 :( Listen to me and I will try to explain what happened.............
Do any of you know a good file recovery program?I was moving my music files to another location, when the computer locked up,I did the 3 finger salute and all the music that was in that folder was gone? Now the location I was moving them to does not show my music that I lost, but it is there, how do I know it is there you ask?I right click and check properties,24.3 gig shows up,when there is only like 2 files in that folder,I use the search for mp3s,the search shows me all the mp3s I lost in that folder,I also double clicked one of the mp3s that the search result gave me and it played. My mp3s are there.....but they are not there,I can not recover them, its like they are in the Twilight Zone.Any help would be appreciated.......I will not post for a whole month on this board if you can help me recover my files. :(
Going to the bar,I can't imagine losing all of them movie scores, some of them were rare, only 1500 copies ever made, got them from a guy in Japan. :(

Have tried the "Find" function in the start menu?
You can also try using the "view" function in Windows Explorer, select view tab and select show all hidden files, see if they show up.

how about checking your hard drive space.
if it has gone up by 25 gigs, you are in trouble. dont do anything except download norton recovery or soemthing try to do it in a nother folder and use that

becuase you're still able to play the music i assume the files you see are mp3? what is the file size? You're sure you ain't got everything zipped or so? Did you by mistake made a new dir, ahidden one?
At least give us the status?

i think you just put hide files.. where they're invisible but still there and cant be clicked on.. so u havent lost them theyre just hidden.. i dont know how to make em appear again but one way is by using ms-dos/or that other name it had go to that directory and it would show up

I think he'll be alright. The fact that he can still play them, and that the space they're taking up is still shows, will probably mean they're recoverable.
I guess it's a good thing you changed your avatar back. I was getting dizzy watching those things bounce all over the place. I could focus on what I was doing :)

Good Luck Funky C.
Try to have as little disk activity until this is sorted out. Just the other day at work, my entire documents & settings folder disappeared when our systems administrator was putting a new video card in my computer. One of the first things he did was.........get this................DEFRAGGED! A little tip from your bud sneepboy.................DONT DO THAT!
Idea: Does anyone have a small undelete utility (maybe shareware or something) they could email him?
Good luck Dude

hey Funky, thats the norm for Windows XP you didn't mention thats what you use but I am assuming it is, the same thing happened to me looks like Windows wants you to think it just happens, there must be a setting to turn that off somewhere. Basically it DOES NOT SHOW File copy progress. It may have seemed locked up-but Microsoft likes to call that a feature!
If thats not the case then try this search at ZDNet
http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3120-20-0.h...over&tg=dl-2001 (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=file+recover&tg=dl-2001)
I ran it for you already the very first seems promising:
File Recover 2.61
Scan your disk drives for any deleted files and restore them.
Good Luck,

Dude! Do you have system restore disks? Or alternately, you could attempt the system restore routine...I'm betting that they're not gone at all, just suspended in some strange condition and System Restore, back to some convenient date will bring it back up...tho everything you've installed since then will not be there...good luck, my friend...(You using Windows ME or one of the NT things?)

All good families squabble, don't they? But when that severed artery happens, it's good to know that we rally...

FC -- in my book that's fairly moderate consumption. Possibly slightly above norm but nothing that S.L. Clemens (Mark Twain) would have disapproved of...& under the circumstances I might have contributed a good deal more to the Coors family...Cheers, dude! There are few things that feel better than rescuing a PC from the brink of extinction!
