He i like to know, if anybody else think this would be a nice idea. Someone who subscibe to the board will automatically be more involved with the content of the board. At least that's what i think. Unknown guest are starting topics in wrong categories, making spam posts and god know what else. Of course there are descent visitors enough. But is it so strange, that if you wanna participate by posting, you take part of it.
Maybe i don't know the consequences enough of this question, but we can discuss 'bout this idea...

I think you'd almost have to let guests post, as that's part of what this board is for, isn't it? I just think there should be a way to filter out the stupid ones. :D

Maybe if there was a way to allow only members to post in the verifieds or something like that. Just because I think some people might be hesitent to trust some unregistered person that's only posted once.

Actually, after answering a few more posts, I'm now in complete agreement with Jetje :P

That's exactly why it crossed my mind, reading a lot of them posts lately. There are a lot of guest with nice posts, but also a lot of them are just like a leech. I have a question, need an answer right now, post it everywhere, you all be nice to me while i yell at ya. Don't wanna read the f*cking faq, you know how much time that takes. Search (button) the forum, that's were all you are for here! And after i'm done here who cares what's left....

@FC, no that's not what iwanna too

btw if you wanna see an example of what imean just scroll to the bottom of This (http://www.kazaalite.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=3475) post by Dawn....

Most of us were guests once....

Although there are always A******s out there, its something that we have to take in our stride.

If you see some idiot going too far then just PM Paul or VB to remove the offending Post or ban that IP address for a couple of days.

I honestly think that banning guests from posting would be a backward step.

On saying this, uploading a verified that has been put there by a guest, is always going to be hit/miss. I think that there should be a disclaimer pointing this out at the start of the verifieds section.

actually your avatar is driving me crazy  ...in a good way :D

I don't see a problem with only allowing members to post. But I'm not so sure if it would lead to an increase in the quality of posts. Some decent flaming, combined with the occasional ban of IPs, should take care of that

just to let you know, it's not i'm after "members posting" only. It's more a subject how to keep the board up and running, usefull for everyone! B)

i think we have a discussion on all the avatars and animated gif's also in the future :D

If your girl, there, keeps bouncing like that, one of those things is likely to hit her in the head and knock her out cold :D

thats right .. at the moment ~1500 0 posters

a solution could be a moderator that helps us admins deleting

let's see what paul thinks about that

Just delete all accounts that haven't been activated for the last couple of weeks. Shouldn't be too hard. That's what most free email companies do.

What about only allowing guests to post in certain categories ? i.e. General Problems and Questions, Questions, Installation Problems, Problems, Connection Problems, Requests.

How about only letting guests start topics and if they want to follow it up then they could become members ?

Just had to add my two cents worth.

Let the guests post. I used to post for a month without being registered (yes, I could've been a board god, but I don't do it for the stars)

ok so heres my suggestion for you all

1) user has not posted for a month
- warning email
- 3-5 days later, another
- account delted (with email)

2) user has not posted anything but one post and the replies to that for a month
- email requesting they reconsider their membership
- month later no reply/ no posts, warning email
- 2 weeks later, account deleted.

guestx should be able to opst. i got no beef with that, and i see no reason why u would trust a member more than a guest.
i know that once someone posted that all my sig2dat links took them to a site that allowed me to "steal" their IP address and hack into their computer

GOD SAVE OUR SOULS!!! LOL

True, I remember that :o

However, I would but more weight to a verified by yourself or Random than 'Guest'.

A member that posted fakes would soon be found out, a guest just changes their name each time the come in... :D I meant a 'member in good standing'...not a one post wonder.

I would hate to see this place become restrictive because speaking for myself I would like to see more posts and more contributors. I agree with the idea of suspending inactive members, and that anyone truly abusive (that would include posting fake verifieds) should be kicked off but in general the width of latitude here is one of its desirable features.

It also seems to me that a lot of people just aren't very comfortable with public communication in any form, though I do think that it would be good manners for them to just quietly watch and listen.
