And if you don't like 23a, you can try this mod (http://www.emuleplus.tk/), which I like better! B)
emule programmers must be on speed! they're bringing out new versions almost on a weekly basis if you include all the mods. open source no doubt.

After reading all the great reviews on this forum, I decided to install Emule 0.23a to see what the fuss was all about .... not to mention to get access to the files on the donkey network which generally have a hard time coming over to Fastrack.....
Being a donkey user myself and one of the people who first introduced the NBA Live 2003 ISO on this network - which was having a problem with a whole lotta fake files - I was sorely disappointed with the speed on Emule. According to some people who post on this forum, Emule boasted speeds in excess of 70 KB/s .. One guy even said it maxed out his connection ..... Hopes set high, on my cable connection I was expecting at least 20 kB/s.
Instead I got a measly 2kBs ...
In addition to all this, the search function was extremely slow ... though I have to admit the Global search is a good idea .... however, one which does not live up to expectations .....and gives only a few results ...
The most irritating function of this so called savior to the donkey network however was the mind boggling time it took for the server names and pings to load .... Descriptions of the servers didn't even load .....
Now I'm a forgiving "live and let live" kinda guy and if I can get decent speeds on the mule I can overlook some of these things .... So can anybody out there help me out and tell me how in the name of god can I increase my DL speed ... I'd be eternally grateful ....

The tips on this page (http://www.emule-project.net/en/viewtopic.php?t=9540&highlight=urls) helped me get speeds up to 110KB/s and I have no problems connecting.
In addition I think emule plus (http://www.emuleplus.tk/) is better than 23a (download the binary, unzip, backup the original eMule.exe and replace with new one), though I've heard some good stuff about Tarod's mod (http://www.emule-project.net/en/viewtopic.php?t=11222) (from ugluk :P and others).
Hope this helps! B)
the Tarod mod works really well for me, better than any of the others I've tried so far. I've been using version 8a for about 1 week, lo and behold, today he's released version 8b. No doubt next week you'll see version 8c.
Much of the hype regarding emule speeds I take with a pinch of salt! sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, patience is the key!
I have been using the Tarod mods for some time now and they are quite good. I am trying the eMule Plus mod right now and I must say that it looks pretty good too.
BTW, it is better to keep the 0.22c mods at the moment because 0.xxa releases are always a bit buggy.

Thanks for the help guys. 0.22c is definitely better than 0.23a ...
How do I install Tarod's? Really doesn't say much in the forum or FAQs.
