yes im the :uberest: harry potter fan around and as the movie goes they do cut out some important parts
i heard that in the fourth movie thats coming out in november they cut dobby and winky out completly and they are actually somewhat important for the fourth and then also important for when the fourth comes out
"ps take a look at my siggy :naughty: , made it my self in photoshop :cool2: "

Hey Much, if you know where to get the audio book online, can you PM me please with the details. If not ill go out and buy the book, i dont really fancy reading a full book in MS Word.
EDIT: I just got 2 versions of the book. Both turned out to be the exact same thing, and nither of them were the real story. I started to get curious when apparently Sirius was alive. So i quickly skiped to the end and it turns out to be some guy who has wrote full adaptions of the origional books.

Yea, i got it at 1pm yesterday afternoon, and didnt stop reading it till about 3:30 in the morning. I thought it was pretty slow up untill about the 24th chapter then loads seemed to happen at once. I also think Rowling plucked alot of feelings out of no where to make all the relationships.

bash.org (http://bash.org/?top):
<JonJonB> Purely in the interests of science, I have replaced the word "wand" with "wang" in the first Harry Potter Book
<JonJonB> Let's see the results...
<JonJonB> "Why aren't you supposed to do magic?" asked Harry.
<JonJonB> "Oh, well -- I was at Hogwarts meself but I -- er -- got expelled, ter tell yeh the truth. In me third year. They snapped me wang in half an' everything
<JonJonB> A magic wang... this was what Harry had been really looking forward to.
<JonJonB> "Yes, yes. I thought I'd be seeing you soon. Harry Potter." It wasn't a question. "You have your mother's eyes. It seems only yesterday she was in here herself, buying her first wang. Ten and a quarter inches long, swishy, made of willow. Nice wang for charm work."
<JonJonB> "Your father, on the other hand, favored a mahogany wang. Eleven inches. "
<JonJonB> Harry took the wang. He felt a sudden warmth in his fingers. He raised the wang above his head, brought it swishing down through the dusty air and a stream of red and gold sparks shot from the end like a firework, throwing dancing spots of light on to the walls
<JonJonB> "Oh, move over," Hermione snarled. She grabbed Harry's wang, tapped the lock, and whispered, 'Alohomora!"
<JonJonB> The troll couldn't feel Harry hanging there, but even a troll will notice if you stick a long bit of wood up its nose, and Harry's wang had still been in his hand when he'd jumped - it had gone straight up one of the troll's nostrils.
<JonJonB> He bent down and pulled his wang out of the troll's nose. It was covered in what looked like lumpy gray glue.
<JonJonB> He ran onto the field as you fell, waved his wang, and you sort of slowed down before you hit the ground. Then he whirled his wang at the dementors. Shot silver stuff at them.
<JonJonB> Ok
<JonJonB> I have found, definitive proof
<JonJonB> that J.K Rowling is a dirty DIRTY woman, making a fool of us all
<JonJonB> "Yes," Harry said, gripping his wang very tightly, and moving into the middle of the deserted classroom. He tried to keep his mind on flying, but something else kept intruding.... Any second now, he might hear his mother again... but he shouldn't think that, or he would hear her again, and he didn't want to... or did he?
<melusine > O_______O
<JonJonB> Something silver-white, something enormous, erupted from the end of his wang
<JonJonJonB> Then, with a sigh, he raised his wang and prodded the silvery substance with its tip.
<JonJonJonB> 'Get - off - me!' Harry gasped. For a few seconds they struggled, Harry pulling at his uncles sausage-like fingers with his left hand, his right maintaining a firm grip on his raised wang.

You could use the spoiler tags.
try this without $ letters:
Here comes the spoiler, whats out!!! [/spoiler$]
...and it should look like this:
[spoiler] Here comes the spoiler, whats out!!!
There's also option to use spoiler-tags quickly without typin all.
see the S close to "color" drop-down-menu?
Spoiler tag is right next to it.
Click it once, write what you want and click OK.

You need to be posting in Advanced mode, not Fast Reply.

Also, check the Preview button if in doubt.

Meh, finshed my landlady's daughter's copy last night. I only read them so I can diss them with some semblance of authority.
Rowling does have some interesting ideas and her actual story does hold interest but her actual writing skills are below par, she does tend to waffle to fill her 600 page tale. And I felt a lot of it I had already read before in her other books.
But I consider her a gateway drug much like I consider bands like Green Day and Offspring gateway drugs to a better music taste. Hopefully people will say "these books are good maybe I should try reading a few more..."?

His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
Pyrdain Chronicles - Lloyd Alexander
The Earthsea Cycle - Ursula K. Le Guin
Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
Apsrt from the Dark Materials trilogy those are some of the best fantasy books I read as a child/teenager. Defiently worth checking out.
For a more adult read check out Stephen Donaldson, my absolute favourite fantasy/sci-fi author.

Anyone also notice how a lot of the book is filled up with meaningless paragraphs and such. JKR seems to go on and on about stuff that has no connection to the story or the main characters. Sure it helps build the world she has created and helps the film makers make the files as much like the books as possible but it doesn't really interest the reader at times.

You are right, first two chapters are not usual for her stile, and then third shows Potter without any emotions. This book is definitely not her peak, JKR said that she was most satisfied with this book... I don't see how. And she missed whole part where Harry stops being angry. I just hope that book 7 have really good ending, without anymore important characters dieing.

Well, Ron could always grow a voldemort on the back of his head, and start wearing a turban to cover it up... :D

suprafreak6
07-27-2005, 06:14 AM
hmm maybe harry will like look into the sky and see simbas father i mean voldemort then he will turn into a monkey.....
HEY WHAT IF....one of the horcruxes were in harry because remember he transfered some powers so the only way to kill voldemort would be for harry to sucide
FinalTheorem
07-28-2005, 12:37 AM
so the only way to kill voldemort would be for harry to sucide
That'd be too sick. JKR wouldn't have her main character kill himself. Maybe Voldemort will kill Harry, thereby killing himself. That'd be a cool twist. And the pope wouldn't have to hate her for having a suicide in her evil witchcraft book  .

Hahahahahahaha new Pope is a bit weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Anyway, I was thinking something like that (about harry being horkrux), that would be a bad twist, but after sixth book anything seems posible, I just hope she doesn't kill any more of important characters (Hermione, any of the Weasleys, Luna or Nevill...), I was hoping the same thing after last book and she goes wild and kills Dumbledor !!! I am so disapointed, I do not dare think who she gon'na kill next !
I olso think that when (if) Harry kills Voldemort he will loose half of his powers (parselmouth and such...)

And david622 don't be a pervert, she was only like 10-11 in the first movie!!! I think she turned all right...
I hope they make new movie really good, because that one is my favorite book.
P.S. Ok Superafreak6, I read it a few times more, I think I get it now, you don't have to repeat it

i'm not being a pervert... i'm just saying she's a lot better looking nowadays than she was before.
pervs would talk about liking her at that age, i was saying the opposite...

emma watson is beautiful, not really "hot"
i just finished the book. shocking and disturbing. the last chapter is like the calm b4 the storm. hard to imagine wat book 7 would be like.
i'm confused. what happened to dumbledore's burnt hand? he said he'd tell harry in due time, but did he? what happened to it?
btw, check this out:

really insightful and interesting read

About Dumbledores hand I presume that it was the curse from that Slytherin ring that was the second horkrux.
So there is seven horkruxes:
1: book that was destroyed in Chamber Of Secrets;
2: Slytherin ring, also destroyed by Dumbledore;
3: necless that R.A.B. (who ever that is) stole, maybe destroyed already,
4: Hufflepuff cup, no info about that one;
5: unknown;
6: unknown;
7: Voldemort himself, the last part of his soul that is still with him.
So for seventh book Harry needs to destroy 3 or 4 hoekruxes and then kill Voldemort!
I expect it will be a long book, and a long wait for it too.

I think someone should create an alternate ending to harry potter......
Aurora
08-01-2005, 04:21 PM
I tottaly agree! Last 3 books were way depressing at the end! I can't even dare think who she's going to kill next! I would like to read a bit brighter Harry Potter.
And yes, JKR can change anything she wants, but she won't! I remeber her interview after the fifth book, and she said that she tryed not to kill Sirius, but couldn't get around it (or something like that). I think she has all planed out already, and she won't change a thing! I still don't see any reason for killing Sirius.
I didn't get all the parts of the interview, some parts look to me like giberish... So I don't know about headmaster.

i think the reason she killed siruis was to make that rebelish look for harry in the book because hes lost everyone who loves him...

I personally loooove the books. I thought the sixth book was even sadder than the 5th. My least favorite would have to be the fifth book, Harry was just too much of an angry going through puberty teenager.

you are an over obsessive Potter fan  . Thanks for explaining that and I have a question. What was so significant about Harry and Neville? Wasn't Neville suppose to be the ONE??

6th book is the saddest yet! :cry1:
I think that Neville-Harry thing talks more about Voldermorts complexes and weaknesses, because he chose half-blood like himself, not pureblood Neville. But there is also no doubt that Harry is the one, because prophecy said that Voldermort will choose and mark his foe, which Voldermort did. He actually didn't hear that bit, so he acted on the prophecy, but if he didn't do anything at all he wouldn't have decent opponent ever! I think JKR is just being ironic on some life questions.

i didn't really like hbp. 1st off, she hardly talked bout magic/muggle relations (the other minister). i expected more of a followup to that chapter, but there was none. the story was sad, but most of the book was "infected" if u will with love. it's important, but i think she makes it way too important and a dominant part of the story, which it should not be. it does please all the little readers out there, but i say she wrote too much unneeded soapy drama. goblet of fire is still my fav book

Im actually thinking of getting this http://www.apple.com/itunes/harrypotter/ i know its nothing cool but because its got the awesome logo on the back....what do you think
tesco
09-08-2005, 02:04 AM
It's just a normal ipod with the logo printed on, and will probably cost a fortune more.
david622
09-08-2005, 02:15 AM
not worth your money. it seems that some people are good at brushing the back of the ipod to make band logos and stuff. you might wanna try that (if you're not afraid to screw it up, that is) and save yourself a LOT of money, i'm sure.
or you could just slap on a sticker or something. i know it's not the same, but still.
