(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

1) Slipknot - Eeyore
2) Slipknot - Skin Ticket (jesus christ, this song is slow which makes it a million times more heavier)
3) Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem
4) Slipknot - Duality
5) Slipknot - (sic)
6) Anything off of MFKR from Slipknot
7) Avenged Sevenfold - Won't Be Seeing You Tonight Part 2
8) Inside Out - Anthrax
9) Pretty much anything by Killswitch Engage
10) Metallica - Seek and Destroy
11) Static-X - Get to the Gone

 i'm glad you liked it. i somehow knew you would.:shifty: i somehow feel bad for giving out all of my favorite metal songs from the past years combined... how selfish of me though huh? anyway...

as i lay dying - 94 hours (classic quality stuff)

roadrunner united - the dagger (when you combine all-star bands, what would you expect?)

underoath - reinventing your exit (for whoever didn't like the omission of '...chasing safety' up ^there)

avenged sevenfold - eternal rest (burning intro to neck-snapping, 2-ton, riffs)

december - host

the agony scene - we bury our dead at dawn -AND/OR- scapegoat (**caution** this guys voice is a little snarly, like cradle of filth if you know, just a warning)

norma jean - memphis will be laid to waste

[old] rammstein - herzeleid
[not so old] rammstein - zwitter
[nu] rammstein - keine lust

arch enemy - lament of a mortal soul (this is a bonus track, so it might be slightly tuff // its worth it for that damn near record-fast double bass)

rise against - torches (seems they're the band of the week around here, so i hope everyone knows this one  )

slayer - bloodline (believe its a mid-career tune)

the used - sound effects and overdramatics (another fantastic screamer, go, bert, go!)

atreyu - aint love grand (my fav atreyu song)

thrice - under a killing moon (trying to get their new cd asap)

trivium - pull harder on the strings of your martyr (they owned ozzfest, soon they'll own metal)

ok... now you seriously can't have a head left. :music:

--------
ok, these songs aren't even heavy or metal or anything, but since i'm reccomending stuff i'll add:

nothingface - ether
by the end of tonight - potential getaway driver

1. Emperor - The Loss And Curse Of Reverence
2. Arch Enemy - Enemy Within
3. Dimmu Borgir - Blessings upon the Throne of Tyranny

:w00t: And as if thats not enough to question your fate, there is a Canadian death metal band called Thorazine (http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=1324) which if they had better production quality (like the quality on Arch Enemys work), and didnt break up, they could take over the world. Or just become more popular ya know. :ermm:

thease bands all blow slipknot out of the world in technique and well anything

Posted by: lee551

all very true ad. have you ever thought about what bands like zeppelin or sabbath could have done if they had access to today's production technology?

i wouldn't say any of the bands you listed were more of 'real metal bands' than any others listed. metal is too broad to have a 'real' category. of course martyr ad, tool, van halen, the scorpions and metallica are all metal bands, but how extremely different are they? 'real metal' wouldn't really describe any of them.

it's not good when people have to take sides between slipknot or bands like judas priest or anthrax. the early roots of hard rock and metal are awesome, but so is a lot of the stuff that it inspired. every sub-category has its pros and cons, but all of it rocks. :music:

Posted by: Skizo

Pantera - Fucking Hostile.

Do I win something?

Posted by: HeavyMetalParkingLot

all very true ad. have you ever thought about what bands like zeppelin or sabbath could have done if they had access to today's production technology?

It's the fact they produced their music without all these modern technologies. It is a sign of musical talent. Not computer savy talents.

Anaal Nathrakh - When Humanity Is Cancer
Stalaggh - Projekt Terror
Darkthrone - Straightening Sharks In Heaven
Emperor - Sworn
Emperor - I Am The Black Wizards
Stormlord - Under The Boards
Akercocke - The Goat
Cradle Of Filth - The Forest Whispers My Name

Honestly i think its a good that most of todays modern , metal band use computer/electrical elements since it makes their songs quite interesting, even without lyrics..

Du hast by Rammstein is really good :D

i know that, i never said heavy = loud, heavy as in slow and crushing, fast and crushing is also good, but its the slow and crushing riffs that is heavy. slipknot, for this generation, is pretty damn good. and yes i have listened to bands like slayer, black sabbath, and metallica, and i admit its wayyy better than what slipknot has created (old metallica, not new). but that doesnt really mean slipknot sucks, yes in comparison they're not as great, but compared to today's bands....no competition, knot wins by a landslide.

Posted by: HeavyMetalParkingLot

I never said that....now you're either putting words in my mouth or are just really bad at quoting!

Damageplan - Fuck You (hilarious acustics LOLAMOROFL!!!)

Posted by: HighFlyer

Slipknot, Slayer, Some Static-x, each have songs that are heavy.

Aside from metal/rock, what about Harcore/metalcore/emo whatever. Its just people screaming insanely load about something I could care less.

that's not really heavy (metal/rock) music dude, anything where a guy just screams into a mic about how small his penis is....well u get the pic, but to each his own.

dead bodies everywhere - korn = not heavy, but so very sweet.

Posted by: Damnatory

Can't believe I've only seen 1 reference to Cradle of Filth!
They have some of the heaviest, and most talented riffs I've ever heard.

Cradle of Filth - Funeral in Carpathia
Cradle of Filth - Cruelty Brought thee Orchids
Cradle of Filth - Black Metal
Cradle of Filth - The Forest Whispers My Name

Fear Factory - Pisschrist
Fear Factory - Shock
Fear Factory - Freedom or Fire
Fear Factory - Demanufacture

HateBreed - Before Dishonor

Mudvayne - Mercy, Severity
Mudvayne - Not Falling

Every song on the Stone Sour CD, with the exception of Bother, which also kicks ass.

Anything Killswitch Engage!

Yeah seriously... If Dani Filth would just shut up, I would listen to alot more COF, but as his voice rakes my nerves after a few minutes, I rarely listen to them anymore. It's a shame really, because they have one of the most talented bands I've heard.

Outs the singer I say!

Posted by: corpsontherun

ok azad, do you want something heavy yet slightly melodic?

Parkway Drive

they are my band of the year, my god i have listened to the album soo many times.

Posted by: Aronax0195

You guys want real brutal?

Devourment - Molesting the Decapitated
Disgorge - Consume the Forsaken
Abysmal Torment - Epoch Of Methodic Carnage

This is some of the most brutal death metal you will likely hear. Brutal as it may be, it's still shitty music to listen to.

Posted by: Smith

Slipnot isnt that hard lol...

In flames
Dimmu Borgir
Immortal
Behemoth

My buddies in a metal band, and they blow away slipnot..

Posted by: Legoflamb

slipknot can be a bit pony but seriously you dont get as a good a mix of listenable and heavy anywhere else.

the first 6 tracks or so of their self titled album are genius

The way they syncopate the beats is just genius too.

Decapitated - 'spheres of madness' is a wicked tune as well.

Posted by: Mïcrösöül°V³

low by testament, final step by flotsam and jetsam. definitly rockin :)

Posted by: LabattHockey

Slipknot-Heretic Anthem
Slipknot-Eeyore
Slipknot-People=Shit
Slipknot-(Sic)
Mudvayne-End of all Things to Come (just because it disses tree huggers, and is real heavy)
Mudvayne-IMN
Mudvayne-Under My Skin
Mudvayne-Cradle
Chimaira-Clensation

^That's my playlist befroe every hockey game i play. I listen to it in the locker room right before we go out and play, and in between periods, fuckin heavy stuff that'll get you goin.

Self titled - Tracks 2-6 are some of the best, and heaviest songs I've listened to, when I say heavy I don't mean all out fucking crazy death metal (which Slipknot isnt), theres a good heavy that you can headbang to every day and not get tired, and theres the "over the top" heavy, I think I'll go with the good heavy.

Iowa - Only one I can think off from here is Disasterpieces and Heretic Anthem, Gently is awesome but its anything but heavy (still a brilliant song)

Volume 3 - not a single track in here is heavy, but to me, this album is the best Slipknot album and the best album in that genre ever, period. Every song is beautiful in its own right (except Welcome, Three Nil, and the Nameless).

Posted by: Necrophag

What's with the nu metal? Nothing heavy about that. Not even metal :D

My choices are

Bloodbath - Cancer of the Soul (Death Metal)
Bloodbath - Eaten (Death Metal)
Torture Killer - A Funeural for the Masses (Death Metal) The intro is heavy!!
Necrophobic - Death Immaculate (blackened death metal)
Funeral Rape - Sex Sex Sex (Porno Grindcore)
Decapitated - Day 69 (Death Metal)

Probably some more.. :P

Posted by: trevor_guitar

Heaviest stuff is anything by behemoth ( i dont like em but i saw em at the Sounds of the Underground tour and they were scary as shit)

Posted by: pECi

try underground tr00 kvlt black metal for some nasty stuff

Lifthrasireon
Katharsis
Lutomysl

Vokodlok(Romanian :D)

that's something i picked just now from my playlist

Posted by: limesqueezer

Heavy like a song that has from start till end heavy rhythm with nasty vocals ?
Metal sounds very similar, but aim at gay grindcore or pornocore and you will find such songs.

Posted by: camaro_44256

Most Stuff from Embrace the End or Glass Casket.

Posted by: lee551

it's interesting to see what everyone thinks of as "heavy" in terms of metal music. music is so subjective, it's crazy.

when i think of heavy i usually think of breakdowns. parts that make you wanna just snap your neck off from slamming it back n forth. like just because a song is loud, distorted, and has screaming vocals is not even 10% of terming a song/band as heavy for me. like nile or pig destroyer can be doing grindcore and i wouldn't really say that's too heavy. i'd call it brutal or extreme before heavy.

just some thoughts.

Now that is just fucked up beyond all recognition.

This gets me thinking what would happen if someone gave a cat a mic and hooked it up w/ 2 guitarists and a drummer....

w0w, i just now ventured into this thread. lol, there's a gay music listed here as "heavy". maybe i'm wrong, but when i think of heavy i pretty much think of death metal. idk. talks of rob zombie, static-x, (lol)korn, chevelle and especially stone temple pilots just make me laugh. sure, i like those bands as well, but they are definitely not this heavy stuff u guys are talking about. mite as well throw in some country while ur at it?

some have been listed and most should know these by name so...

1. cannibal corpse
2. kataklysm
3. deicide
4. morbid angel
5. six feet under

Posted by: pettson3816

Maybe, you'd like to say Nile, Nasum, Vader or whatever.. But Pantera - Walk has to be the meanest, heaviest motherfucker out there.. there's nothing HEAVY about blastbeats and grindcore really.. it's all about the fucking breakdowns and chainsaw riffing..

i think hardcore is a subgenre of the C:\rock&roll\metal\ genre. so hardcore is rock and roll, specifically metal, more specifically hardcore. not?

No specific songs come to mind, but you can't go wrong with bands like Nile or Anal Cunt.

Posted by: Elvenmunky

My nominations would have to be:

1) Slipknot - Eeyore
2) Slipknot - Skin Ticket (jesus christ, this song is slow which makes it a million times more heavier)
3) Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem
4) Slipknot - Duality
5) Slipknot - (sic)
6) Anything off of MFKR from Slipknot
7) Avenged Sevenfold - Won't Be Seeing You Tonight Part 2
8) Inside Out - Anthrax
9) Pretty much anything by Killswitch Engage
10) Metallica - Seek and Destroy

Rammstein-Du hast is really,really good!!!

Heaviest? Knowing whats heavy is really hard, and especially when you throw in some nü metal like Slipknot. But in my sense you either chose the most extreme raw fucking metal like Anal Cunt which is probably the most extreme metal ever created, grindcore. Anal Cunt makes all black and death metal bands fade away. Sure they are extreme as hell but no one will ever be more extreme then AC... tho i personally hate, hate form the bottom of my heart when music only is created to be as fucking extreme as possible.

Or you talk about some really heavy stuff, Pantera was great on pushing the limits when they where active. But Slayer is probably the heaviest band in history imo, keyword heavy not extreme.

Posted by: ¿lulqué?

i'm sorry, but you people are RETARDED.:frusty::angry:

i couldnt read past where one of you said Walk was the heaviest.

Please... If you want to know the heaviest and maybe even the brutallest, take a listen to: Whitechapel, Impending Doom, and Devourment. You may not like these bands because of the immense epicness they release from their instruments, but, please... Pantera, Metallica, and and Slipknot are FAR from being the heaveist.

A.C. isnt all that extreme, they are just 'controversial', and a shitty rip-off of early Napalm Death. As an example, Pig Destroyer or Exhumed are way heavier. I'd say in general though grindcore is the most extreme genre of metal, and I blast it alot while i work out :01:

Reign in Blood is a fucking awesome album though, and definately the heaviest thrash album I've heard :D

Cannibal Corpse "Hammer Smashed Face" is probably the craziest/hardest song i have in metal/rock etc..i can't even understand the lyrics it's so crazy but the music itself is great

Posted by: roni84av

anything from cradle of filth

Posted by: Biggles

One of the earliest heavy tracks has got to be King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. Ground breaking and actually still remarkably fresh. Probably too much Jazz in it to qualify for modern grungy heavy though.

Posted by: ca_aok

Listen to the track "Rivet" by Praxis. It's some ridiculously heavy guitar riff played by Buckethead coupled with the lead singer screaming and the sound of shattering glass to top off the experience...

Posted by: xpestilencex

go listen to some Cock and Ball torture or Nile

Posted by: cpt_azad

Nile is not heavy at all compared to most bands nowadays in the Metal scene, but they're a good band on their own.

Arch Enemy just owns for me at the moment, they're by far not the "heaviest" but god damn, ton of guitar talent in that band.

Heaviest for me at the moment is Divine Heresy, fairly new band, but it has the drummer from Vital Remains and the guitarist from Cannibal Corpse, good times haha

Disturbed ands Slipknot ..they have a lot of heavy ..rock.very very heavy

I used to be like you man, huge slipknot fan (they introduced me to true metal). Trust me though, Slipknot is not the heaviest, shit I wish I could turn back time and stop myself from saying some of the things I did about how slipknot was the heaviest hahaha

Go listen to some Cannibal Corpse, now thats heavy, I personally don't like that band cuz they're a wee bit too heavy for my tastes, FYI, best song title ever (from non other than Cannibal Corpse): "Submerged in boiling flesh" :01:

Posted by: conopida
