First time wireless user

Staying at the wife's family for xmas
they have wireless
and they have an extra wirless card
called D-Link Air PLUS XtremG DWL-G650
i got the driver from Dlink
but every time i plug it in, XP found new hardware manager pops up looking for "ethernet controller"
In the device manager - ethernet controller has a question mark next to it.
What do i do now?
I use Siemens AmiloD laptop and have no clue where to go from here.
Xp pro
I have disabled various services according to Blackviper.com - yet enabled the Wireless configuration
Please advize

Perhaps you could read the install guide on dlinks website.
Look at this page (http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=11&sec=0#quickInstallGuides) and click on the picture for the revision you have.
