If I had to pick from those choices i'd say dell since they're cheap, but i'd rather get one made in a shop such as where clocker works. ;)

I'd never buy one but I guess a Mac if I had no choice . I like the whitebox stores aswell .

Probably IBM because their Notebooks are top notch. that is what I am most likely to buy prebult anyways. my favorite computer manufacturer is Clevo, although, they make laptop chassis that you put together, so maybe one of the custom shops that assembles those.

True...an emachines system is usually 10% slower than a self-assembled comp with the same specs using quality parts...

emachines are good deez days.

when I was looking at laptops I looked at a couple emachines. the build quality was crap. they just felt cheap. I would never buy emachines

Last recall eMachines was acquired by Gateway anyway...

Walk in and mention FST and I'll give you a .1% discount.:P
Sadly, I was forced to vote "Apple".
Their hardware/engineering is top-notch even if the final product is crap.
Dell, HP and Gateway all use cheap components and are too proprietary to boot (good luck replacing a Dell PSU).
eMachines...hmmm, not sure what to say.
My Mom's has been chugging away for several years with no problems but in the shop we have SIX of 'em awaiting motherboards. Boards seem to be their weakest link.
Sony is just pure drivel...junk hardware and the industry's worst support.
No way would I touch any Sony product.
Custom built is the way to go.

IBM sold out to the Chinese last year.
Haven't seen the new product yet.

Dell = Dell...No More, No Less...just Dell
Btw, does anyone ever mod a mac?
It's probably possible, but I swear I've never seen anyone's modded mac before. OSX with a tricked out case that includes lights, water cooling, CMOS Clear Switch, Digital Temp/Fan/CPU Clock Monitor, etc etc. That's some good stuff there.
Heh, I've seen PCs with just about everything on them. (yes, even "naught mods" on a pc...pretty lonely DooDz out there.)

Where is the option for alienware? Aside from a laptop, alienware would be the only prebuilt PC I would buy.
