The objective of the PlaneShift is to create a virtual fantasy world in which a player can start as a peasant in search of fame and become a hero. First of all PlaneShift is a Role Playing Game. Be sure to read our Roleplay guidelines (http://www.planeshift.it/roleplay.htm) or you will not be able to play this game. We will focus our efforts in the reproduction of a real world with politics, economy, many non-player-characters controlled by the server that will bring to life our world even without players connected!
We want to give FREE access to everyone, without the need to either purchase the game or pay a monthly fee. Servers and bandwidth will be donated by sponsors.
Our virtual world is persistent, and this means you can connect to it at every hour of day or night and you will always find players and npcs wandering our realms. You will be able to disconnect and reconnect again, the server saves the actual status of your character including his possessions.
You will use a client program to interact with our world, that enables you to have a 3D view of the surroundings.

PlaneShift is free for players, you can download it and play it without any fee.
PlaneShift uses two licenses. All source code of the engine is Open Source and under GPL. This means it can be reused in other projects. All the other assets are proprietary and copyrighted to Atomic Blue (http://www.atomicblue.org/) Non Profit Corporation and no reuse is allowed.

maybe i was harsh when i said gay, but the grafx look nice they do not. can someone say squares? idk, maybe it's just me and the game is great... idk.

I would say those graphics are pretty much equivalent to those of WOW.

The graphics are ok, I don't know if I just went into an empty server but there was nobody there. And the controls were no good at all.

Yea the movement seems a little dodgy (it's keyboard based instead of mouse and keyboard and a bit linear) and other things like jump don't look so good.
It also takes a bit of getting used to and some of the controls are a bit unusual.
It's not that bad once you get into it though (it is a free game so you can't really complain).
The fact that it doesn't seem to be easy to get the game into full screen is a little off putting.
I've also found my character died pretty quickly and now I'm stuck in the dead zone place which is really hard to get out of :(
