This computer will be my dads, he wants it nice and small but good, he is going to be using it for his work and just internet surfing and emails...
what do you think? changes can be made, try to get your posts in by tonight

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Change to a NEC burner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152058

You could also get a Floopy drive with card reader built-in: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16821104104

Posted by: suprafreak6

both changes made...also anyone have any coupons or anything for newegg?

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

I would also suggest that you build it on socket 939.

3200+ CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103535

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813138264

Offers dual channel memory at almost the same price. In fact it's a bit cheaper overall if you choose the CPU I posted.

You could even go with the 3000+ for further savings:

Ya, go with the 3000+ as you said, your dad's only gonna be using it for internet and email and stuff, not video editing and games.

Not to mention, atleast for me anyway, It could be EASILY OCed to atleast the speed of a 3700+ anyway if the slight extra speed is even needed.

Posted by: suprafreak6

okay went with that mobo and that ram and that processor? any other changes? im pretty sure this is a nice build

Posted by: suprafreak6

that operating system i choose will have a legit serial key correct?
i just dont wanna be stupid and spend 150 for a temporary serial rather than full liscense

Posted by: clocker

No, it's legit.
Full license, not temporary.

I could be contrary and recommend the 64 bit version of Pro, but I won't.

Consider it a gift.

Posted by: suprafreak6

but whats so good about the 64 bit?

Posted by: clocker

It has twice as many bits.

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Don't get the 64bit XP. Stick with the one you chose or you could even go for the Home Edition.

Still legit key and full license.

i would go with home, but this computer is my dad's and he will be doing office billing on it. The office program requires windows xp professional for somereason...
still think this set up is okay for office billing, sending bills via internet, good for emails and web browsing

No, you actually ordered the parts that may become a computer.

It's not a real PC till you've installed Windows and it crashes.

Posted by: Virtualbody1234

Yeah. I hope we get to hear all about the build process and the crash.

Keep us informed!

Posted by: suprafreak6
