I just started sharing today but apparently I am not doing something right? My user leve is at 10. I want to share my files but I am not sure if I have to "upload" the files or just indicate I want to share. Any help would be appreciated. :)

I shouold add that I am using windows XP and that I have read similar questions on here but I still can't figure it out. I am unsure how to move a folder to my "shared folder" I guess?
Since this is such a frequent question it seems it should be in the FAQ. I couldn't find it if it is.

You are getting confused with 'upload'(When I just started using kazaa I got confused too). Its not that type of upload when you upload it to a site or something, when its uploading it means that someone is downloading one of your files. So to share you files all you have to do is put them in your shared folder. To edit the keywords any that for the files go to 'my Kazaa' and then RIGHT click on the file you want to change the keywords etc. and then click 'Edit Details'. Please note: you will not be able to search for your own files you are sharing!

Hi Payne,
All you have to do is make sure you have the files you want to share in your shared folder. You can set Kazaalite to share the contents of other folders too. In Kazaa click Tools>Find Media to Share and select the folder you would like to share. (do not share your whole hard drive.)
If you have highspeed internet just try to stay online and you will see that people will find your files and start uploading them.
Just as a check you should click tools>options - Traffic check max upload slots available and make sure that there is no check mark in [ ] Disable sharing of files with other Kazaa (lite) users. Also check - advanced tab set maximum bandwidth.
If you have files people want you will soon see a lot of traffic. Your Participation level will increase as uploads happen.
Hope this helps you and was what you were looking for.

At the bottom right corner of Kazaa Lite you will see:
Connected as USERNAME@Kazaa, sharing XX files.
That means your are sharing your files and people can download them for you. It will just be a matter of time before someone will start downloading from you.

I suggest, especially as a new user that you move files and folders to the share folder and do not let Kazaa share things, that is only share the share folder. This will limit the possibility of you sharing something you do not want shared, IE personal or private information. Simply open Windows Explorer (folder with a magnifying glass on it). Go to programs, KazaaLite and Shared Folder. Now find any files you want to share and move them into that folder. I use a single shared folder within the KL shared folder, that way dat files and shared stuff are separate. Then inside of the single folder I have lots of other folders, one for music, one for movies, one for software. You understand? It works for me, but do, as you want, just be careful not to share anything you do not want to. And remember if you do share other folders on your PC, remember which one's, because you could down the road stick something private in them by mistake, that is why I suggest sharing only files that are actually located in the KazaaLite share folder itself. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I think I got it. It just seems that very few people have shared from me "uploaded". It seems that I have very little to do with my participation level. I have all the files I have downloaded ready to be shared it is just that nobody is uploading from me. This can be frustrating as it appears many people don't like others to have a low participation and some have even recommended not sharing with low participation members. If anybody wants any songs I have please come share with me.
Thank for all the help and remember some of us are new to this.

For a higher participation level you can also use Rocko (kl cheater), read about it on this forum. Most of us never judge by the partition level of a user, but just what they have in their shared folder. B)
