Hmm, kazaa,s a good back up these days , your right in what you say . Its just down to progression , i first used morpheus , then kazaa, then bit torrents , now usenet . I want the fastest way possible, and at present , its usenet.

I find this thread funny.

You ask: "Why on Earth do you guys still use Kazaa when all those awesome bittorrent sites exist?"

Then you immediately say: "I use Kazaa..."

  Hilarious!

I haven't used Kazaa in a looooong time, but if you still find it useful '121', why are you knocking it? :ermm:

B/c I still download at 600-700 kb/s. :01:

Damn that thing still alive ???

Unreal :01:

A combo of P2P is generally the best solution as they tend to offer different things (so BT is good for newer files but you'll find things like Kazaa are better for older files).

Besides at the very least Kazaa and it's ilk server keeps the RIAA busy rather than them pouring their resources into crippling the BT network (which they will no doubt attempt to do once Kazaa and the others begin to fall).

Posted by: BombayMan

i sometimes use it just to download couple of music videos..

Posted by: lightshow

Jeez I don't know how long ago it was that I would follow this forum to see the progress randomnut had made.

Those were the last times I used kazaa. From there I learned irc, and so on.

Posted by: erax

about the users of usenet , is it just a payment service !!!

Posted by: lobsterbait

I have always found Kazaa to be spyware filled and everytime I would boot it up my computer would go dead slow. I'm suprized there is people still using Kazaa.

Posted by: Hairbautt

Jeez, still a debate. I use to side with Kazaa for rarities, but now I stick to bittorrent with LimeWire for rare finds.

This debate is always stared by noobs who think that everyone is still using Kazaa. When in fact, said noobs has just dropped it a week ago when a friend of their's finally slapped them in the face for using it and directed them to bittorrent. Now they come here to boast their elite-ness to the tribe, when in fact they show up red-faced in embarrasment b/c they find out the rest of the world has already made the switch years ago.

Bittorrent sucks for older stuff.

 So true! I recently turned someone from it (told'em this place would be a good source of info.)...

We do it on purpose...to give you a reason to start this thread....and for rare occasions for the odd tune .. ;)

Posted by: MCHeshPants420

You need something like Kazaa or Limewire for the "odd tune" Bittorrent and Newsgroups are shite for that. I use Frostwire for any tunes I want to grab. Or, if I have a few spare weeks to wait for stuff, emule.

Hmm, kazaa,s a good back up these days , your right in what you say . Its just down to progression , i first used morpheus , then kazaa, then bit torrents , now usenet . I want the fastest way possible, and at present , its usenet.

I've tried Usenet but it seems WAY limited compared to having accounts at the top 3 or 4 private trackers. Or am I missing something? I got an account at Easynews and haven't found a single THING that's not available on the private BT trackers. TL and OiNK have great speeds, since so many seeders paranoid about their ratios, so what's the advantage of Usenet and the archaic interface, multiple files to worry about, etc..

Thanks!

No uploading and having to maintain silly ratios, top speeds no matter what and no-one can see what you're downloading. :dabs:

Exactly! We gotta have decoys.

Posted by: g4life98

i use kazaa every so often, for random things i want to find.

Posted by: stylerico

I used Kazaa-lite for years, thought it was awesome. But when I got a taste of bittorents... I wouldnt even go back if there wasnt anything else to down load. It spoiled me that much!!!!

Posted by: smalle

if i'm looking for a song i can't seem to find anywhere i use limewire pro, got much more search result compared to kazaa, and its without spyware!

Posted by: wiggle

I have always found Kazaa to be spyware filled and everytime I would boot it up my computer would go dead slow. I'm suprized there is people still using Kazaa.

Funny, I've always found my k++ to be spyware free and it regularly used to get great DL speeds. I can search for files I want, Files don't have to be "active" in order to DL them. And I could go online and do other stuff at the same time with no lag.

I tried bitcomet and it first made my machine run so slowly and interfered with my browsing speed. So much so that after obtaining the files I wanted I never used it again, until the other week, Surprisingly it did not affect my computer at first, but after a week or so it is now seriously affecting my computer speed again. I suspect this is because I recently re-installed my Windows and my Drive C: had a lot of room on it. over the last weeks my C drive has become full again. Only bitcomet though causes a lag, kazaa has no effect.

I am about to dip my toes into emule for the first time so I'll see how that goes.

Recently Kazaa user numbers have plummeted to about 700,000. 3million was the figure only a few months ago. I have no idea why they all left. This drop in users could finally be the end of kazaa.

I was a member of all the warez sites and private FTP sites. Then that faded and along came morpheus to Kazaa and now torrents. :)

Posted by: ganduman

i think a combo of p2p will work great ... in limewire there is always a problem of dud files.

Posted by: thewizeard

... use Kazaa when all those awesome bittorrent sites exist? I use Kazaa on rare occasions to download the odd tune but other than that it's dead in the water :wank:

..heh.. You have answered you own question ... maybe you should do a little less :wank: and a little more :smartass:

Posted by: jamaicanboy

i miss this program

Posted by: jamaicanboy

im guessin u all switched to limewire

Posted by: Hairbautt

im guessin u all switched to limewire
That's a little old too now-a-days.

Posted by: crayon1

Kazaa screwed my new system over years ago - since then no way! BT all the way, although I'd like to learn how to use Usenet sometime......

Posted by: astarow

IMHO kazaa has the worst possible speed. i did not get a speed over 200k ever ... and even 200k was a once in a lifetime...
torrents are the best solution for 3 simple reasons: 1) all the tracker have a set of attributes for each torrent, you can search the tracker for some keywords and find the torrent .. stuff like that. 2) you will never download a torrent and find out it's not what you expected (on kazaa/morpheus/winmx i downloaded fight club like 20 times ... with different names .. and all this over a period of time.) 3) on torrents you have the best speed if you are on a big tracker cause you will allways find some seeders/leechers who have good bw.
for old files that are impossible to find on torrents you can allways use the dc++ hubs. there are so many big hubs that it is impossible not to find what you are looking for. and at a better speed.

Posted by: sammeke288

don't understand why

Posted by: thewizeard

If it wasn't for Kazaa lite.. FST would not exist.. Torrents have their problems too...corrupted files..no seeds, stops at 99% etc etc..and if you don't understand why...don't even bother trying. In fact, why bother coming to this forum at all..the torrent forum is just a little higher..all you need to do is scroll up.

Posted by: NA_Magus

Limewire Pro for me. But like most others, I only use it when the that one single file I want isn't available on a torrent (which is rare).

Posted by: Vanguard

I like kazaa cos at least it takes some of the steam off of torrents, and uses up a lot of the MPAA's time.

Posted by: powerade

because kazaa is still the best! lol jk

Posted by: slowgo

I thought kazaa esp kazalite were long gone ....guess not ...think i'll give it a look again..

Posted by: analyzer.

lol.. I didn't even know this was still around.

Just to see if it has changed in over 3 years lol

Posted by: astarow

I use Kazaa sometimes... there are too much p@rn waiting for me hehehe

why don't you use puretna or pornation or other trackers dedicated to porn ???

Posted by: StevenVD

Porn is not good, find a girlfriend :P

Posted by: 3 Wheels Of Tazio

I thought kazaa esp kazalite were long gone ....guess not ...

Exactly what i was thinking, i thought it died a long time ago.

Too many fakes and virus infected files for my liking but in all honesty i've got some stuff on disc that i got from it back when i used it that i've never seen since, so it was ( is? ) good for obscure stuff.

Posted by: ZeD_FileZ

KAZZA or Kazza Media Desktop is huge if you like unstable spyware and adware on every inch of your computer... (no spyware my backside)

wont touch it with a pole!

Klite was good, no longer developed but still used by some and was the best adware, spyware free P2P ever IMO! bit outdated for my use today.

Posted by: trobinson97

Wow, I didn't know that Kazaa was still runnning, man it's been a long time since I used that stuff. Think I stopped around the same time I joined this site. I use irc for my things.

Posted by: 12spysonu

thought kazaa was dead in the water

Posted by: Omaster

there always were ftps though. ;)

I think he was talking about p2p methods.

Posted by: donnied

Kazaa is the only one my Commodore 64 will run

Posted by: anak

i never used kazza and probably never will -_- only network like that i use is gnutella (sp?)

Posted by: kobi_af

because the quickly download of songs

Posted by: weenden

kazaa was good at one time 5 to 6 yrs ago but i stopped when the frequency of viruses and worms were abound and also partial shares drove me nuts too

Posted by: freakyflow7

if you really need this kid of network use gnutella network.. its far better. but im still asking myself why on earth do you guys still use kazaa and limewire :)

Posted by: Skizo

kazaa is so bad... file quality is terrible... this is what kills the scene

Posted by: Billyboy2008

Kazaa was the first thing I used back in the day. Within a week the computer was in the shop with over 500 viruses. I still laugh at the fact.

Posted by: thewizeard

There is a thread here somewhere, where Jetje mentions that kazza is faster than bittorrent...I think it's about 5 years old though.... :) Who cares..if it wasn't for Kazaa then no one would have been able to post in this thread in the first place....

Posted by: idsos

theres a different torrent site for pretty much anything your into nowadays .... i dont see a need for kazaa anymore .... unless you wanna test your new antivirus ....

Posted by: whiteboy

War Napster, that was where it began for me, then Kazaa, then Limewire then Usenet. Now BT:w00t:

Posted by: hurter

i use kazaa for quick mp3 search and retrieve - faster than crawl 3 or 4 trackers searching for each song...
