it helps pay for the game. i mean like, the textures, the physics and graphics engine and the online component are exactly the same, but without advertising do you really think EA/dice could almost break even selling this for the price of a normal game :shutup:

Here is EA's statement:
"The advertising program in Battlefield 2142 does not access any files which are not directly related to the game. It does not capture personal data such as cookies, accountlogin detail, or surfing history.
BF 2142 delivers ads by region. The advertising system uses a player's IP address to determine the region of the player, assisting to serve the appropriate ads by region and language. For instance, a player in Paris might be presented with ads in French. The information collected will not berepurposed for other uses.
Battlefield 2142 also tracks "impression data" related to in-game advertisements: location of a billboard in the game, brand advertised, duration of advertisement impression, etc. This information is used to help advertisers qualify the reach of a given advertisement."
But still more invasive then I would like.

This advertising thing is the future of videogames, I'm afraid. It's the developer's way to cash in a few extra bucks. I just wonder how will they explain putting them in fantasy / medieval themed games!

I have all the battlefield games and bf2 rocks but i wouldnt bother with any of the add ons like special forces oh and the new battlefield 2142 sucks big time

BF1942. Is a classic. More people play it than BFv still.
BF2 will only surpass BF1942 when mods start comming out. FH2 will be amaizing.

I always thought the mod "desert combat" was really good, It was just a mod but it felt like a whole new game to me really fun.

I wish BF1942 mod Desert Combat was the best of all battlefield i wish it was still popular but BF2 FTW. i have played 2142 didnt really like it except some features that 2142 has i wish bf2 had.

I think BF2 is the best with BF1942 coming in at a close second. The whole gameplay and new features are the only thing that makes it better, cuz 1942 has the best maps hands down. Now with 2142 that game is a joke, i thought it highly sucked, the new unlockes system sucks and in general it was more confusing and worse gameplay, definitely not recommended.
