Hey I just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that it is possible to rip a dvd and split it into chapters and put the whole thing on just ONE!!!! CD-R. But i am talking about just the movie, no special features. Obviously you will not be able to put something the size of Lord Of the Rings on a single CD-R, but somethin the size of Spider man. Actually anything Under 700mb when downloaded can be split into chapters and burned onto a CD-R WITH a chapter menu and Title screen THE QUALITY IS ALMOST CLOSE TO THE DVD!!! IF this was nothing new then too bad, but i just figured out how to do this and wanted to share SEE YA

and...
... where is the rest of your story ?

well obviously it depends on the program used to burn the CD-R if u use Nero 5.5 then you should be fine. Haven't tried any other program. But if the whole movie is cut into chapters and encoded with Divx5 then you can use TMPGEnc to encode them into VCD format and use Nero to burn them thats what i did :)

if you use vcd format, the quality will be crap. if you burn a data cd in divx format it will be superstar quality but it will only play on one dvd player that was just released, or your computer.
so what else is new anyway?

For a decent quality SVCD you will need 2 disks or more.
And converting from DivX5 to (S)VCD will mean a lot of quality loss.
I prefer direct 4-pass DVD to SVCD encoding B)
