cheers for that how do you connect to that address as all I get is unobtainable

In mIRC, go to File -> Select Server. Add a new server, and in the IRC Server field, type in irc.bitmetv.org. Connect to it, in the Favorites box that pops up, type in #bitmetv in the channel name field to join.
Sorry if I'm being vague, but I'm assuming that you can figure out the rest.
