can anyone recomend the fastest way i can download, either bittorrent or other media file types in 30-60 minutes, whether you hve to pay for that kind of speed, or there are programs or sites to download from, just wanted to know whether it's possible, one suggestion was that there is a program that allows you to compress a 700mb file to a 50mb file but i'm not to sure, so just wondored whats best and fastest way to download either torrent or other media files on the internet??

no, 700MB files get split into 14.7MB parts. 4GB files get split into 49.7 mb parts. in the end you still have to download 700MB/4GB depending on the size.

I think this is what your friend is talking about. or thinks hes talking about

The fastest way to download over the internet would be through Newsgroups or FTP. That being said, you have to have the connection to download fast.

This link (http://www.homenethelp.com/web/explain/about-network-speeds.asp) will explain the idea of speed, while this one will explain bandwidth connections (http://www.helpwithpcs.com/internet/internet-connections.htm).

If I'm downloading it would probably be http (I get a clean 700kb). So thats what I do.

youll easily manage it in less than 60mins on a private bittorrent tracker if youve got a reasonable connection, just hand around here for a while http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-bittorrent-invites-section-90/

plus its free unlike newsgroups....

looks like you've been around asking this question:

700mb with bittorrent shouldn't take too long!

Posted by: ram82082

heard that 2.. so, no bueno. i use privates 4 new/rare shit. otherwise i use the pubs, no ratio

P2M is pretty fast, assuming the mail server used is indeed a fast one.

Ouuu it's sound very coooollll ;)

with u torrent

Posted by: lordlinier

maybe u can make u broadband faster

Posted by: ptp5352

depends on how many seeders there are on the torrent. The fastest download would be from a 1Gbit ftp, topsites and the like. Prob get a 700mb in a matter of seconds

Posted by: sam0010

if you can go that fast then you can stream divx movies. that would be awsome!

or wait, the movie wouldnt be dowloaded in order, so i guess u cant stream it

Posted by: porsche2006

P2M is not that fast in my POV.

Posted by: Charmig_latino

FTP would be the fastest i think, unless the seed have a connection of 100 MBit and u too :D

Posted by: ticcco11

i think u should use a private tracker.n' the speed will also dpend on ur connection.

Posted by: thewizeard

Use the UseNext paid client

Download speed up to 50 MBps per connection

Go to Usenetserver.com and get the 3 days for 3 dollars deal. Google Grabit and use it as your newsreader. Search http://alt.binaries.nl/ for the files you're looking for, selected all the parts to the file and create an NZB. Open the NZB with grabit. You will begin downloading as fast as your connection allows.

i don't get the point of this thread. 1st - there is no way you can compress a 700M file and make it 50M or so unless it's a file that was prepared for compression (a special file that is only used to demonstrate that this can be done, same block or char for n times or something like that)
2nd - it's not very important what software you use or what protocol is used. if you have a 100M connection, the other party has a 100M connection and there is no problem between the 2 computers (like a slow router or something) then you will get the 100M speed. it is not important what protocol is used (except SMTP cause when you attach something to the mail the file size grows).
usually if you download something form yahoo or download.com the speed you have is the bandwidth that's available to you in that moment. if you download from other sites/ftp's/ ... the speed you get might be lower because the bandwidth available on the other side is lower. on torrents you get very good speeds cause when there are lot's of seeds and not so many leech there is a lot of bw available.
to give you an answer to your question, the best way to download something from the internet is to use any software you have available for that protocol (torrent client / ftp client / internet browser /...) and you will get the best possible speed.

Thanks Sherlock....

The OP obviously doesn't understand the file sharing networks as well as vets like yourself... If he knew all the options, and protocols, he wouldn't be posting.

People are suggesting usenet over torrents because then he wont have to worry about the servers bandwidth, only his. His downloads will be as fast as his connection, not as fast as his seeds.

i don't get it Watson ... if i want a file that's available only on torrents (and even more specific on one tracker) how can i use usenet to get it ? and vice versa.
my advice was very simple: use a torrent client if the file you want is available on torrents ( not worrying about what client you use), use a ftp client if the file you want is availbale on ftp, use a DC client if you download form DC netrowrk....

P2M is not so fast, first you have a problem to locate server then when you finally locate the server you have to wait to long to download the file. That is my experience with P2M .
PS. I was waiting approximately about 12 hours
