Check For Succesful Completion

Is it possible to check if a download using Kazaa is succesful?
In other words is it possible to compare my MD5 checksum of the newly downloaded file somehow with the source from which I downloaded to find out if they are equal?
This is an issue because when the computer "hangs" when downloading, data integrity is not garanteed. (FAT32 is not a journaling file system :( )
Thank in advance.

Well, I kinda find the answer myself.
Check http://www.angelfire.com/ego2/idleloop/index.html
for a .dat viewer. It displays, among other things, the file checksum. Really cool! Although I can't find out what algoritm was used. It is a 160 bit checksum, so I would suspect SHA-1 was used. But I tested it with something I already downloaded and it is not equal.
Download fsum from SlavaSoft Inc to make a checksum using different algorithms for your own files. Does anyone know what checksum is used??
