Hello, i just would like to know what are the best for pre's.
I like to get things as fast as they're released onto the web.
I use BT now and it's pretty cool i know there's faster ways to get things...
Newsgroups? dc+? ftp's?
Can someone tell me the release "chain" since a file is released by a group until get's available to the majoraty of users :)

as you can se file sharers/downloaders is: torrent users, dc users, and other p2p protocolls. The fastest is private trackers like: FTN, Scc, ScT and others. If you have this sites I think its enough. But if you want to get higher up you need to get access to scene ftps or ftps connected in some way to the scene..and that is pretty imbossible if you dont have god contacts.

How fast is your internet connection? That's the speed of Usenet (Newsgroups). I'll give to the BT boys that things appear on Usenet and 'some' trackers at about the same time. However, while they are happy at getting 90 or 100KBs on something that is well seeded. I'm getting 1000+KBs everytime, all the time. Above that, I'm not sharing anything with anyone and not risking my ass.

same here, i started using IRC age ago for downloading, but used DC++ (mostly for rare stuff) and BT...i'm now using usenet and i get pretty good speeds 1000 KB+
BTW about the pyramid...don't agree with it...but anw ;)

I'm not to interested in "speed"...i currently use bt and 90% of the time i get speeds of 1500, 1600Kbps so i'm happy with it.
What i really wanted to know was, where things appear first :yup:
After reading some stuff, i believe that private ftp's are the best so that is the way to go. But i also know that the chances for me are 1/100000 maybe :lol:
One last thing: things get released in IRC first than BT and usenet?

If it is a scene release it just depends on how snaggs it from the dump site first.
Usually, it'll hit everything on the lower level about the same time.
