What does DVDSCR mean?

Hi,
I have just 'discovered' newsgroups!
I was searching for a few movies, and some of them (mostly the newer ones) have "DVDSCR" in the title.
What does that mean?
Is that a cinema screen-voice sync or something?
Thanks

it means DVD Screener. The dvds they give out to people to watch to make reviews or for the award shows.

Hey ibking, up to a few years ago before a movie was released to the public critics were gathered together in a movie theatre and shown the movie so they could watch and critique it for their newspaper, or tv show. Now the movie studios supply them with pre-release dvds called screeners for critiquing instead. A prerelease dvd screener will generally have a few scenes every so often in black and white with a bar at the top saying PROPERTY OF MGM or whichever movie studio the show belongs to. Some hackers can remove the black and white and the announcement bar before uploading but I have seen lots of movies with it still in. Generally in the scene whichever site gets the dvdscreener up first is the winner, although most of us don't care about that we're just happy not to have to watch the godawful versions taped by videocamera(cams) in the movie theatres, with someones head in the way for most of the movie. I hope this explains it enough.

Screeners are often mislabeled also. You end up with a movie of some guy filming the movie with a shaky handi-cam.

I remember those days, the baby crying, people getting up and walking around during the movie. Give the kids some gummies to throw all over the place and you have all the effects of the theatre in your own home.

Although I think this thread needs updating for the new R5 stuff and HD.

You mean DVDR releases I guess? Or do you mean xvid isn't as good as divx. Just wondering cause I like both xvid and divx and don't see any difference. I only download the 2 cd rips though.
