Soulseek or Shareaza.

The biggest file sharing community is still the Direct Connect network. They have more files than FastTrack and Gnutella combined! If you don't fint it on there, you can't find it anywhere else! Both clients are spyware free but are not as easy to use as KLite.

DC++ 0.24 :
http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/

Direct Connect 1.0 :

I noticed when using Bittorent, I needed to foward port 8661.
Shareaza is very cool and ES5 is fast but very strange.

So far I haven't had a great experience with ES5. The interface seems a little cartoonish. I'd rather they cut out the bullshit "dating" and concentrate and filesharing. Also, I've found very few sources for files there, but the network is just getting started. B)

I'm still holding strong that Shareaza beta version 1.9 is the best filesharing program around. Security can always be improved, but the interface is great, and its very easy to use. :)

That is up to you to decide. Many people like DC++ because it is written in the C language and is supposed to be more stable. Besides that, it can connect to multiple hubs at once but Direct Connect 1.0 can only connect to one at a time. However, some hub operators don't like DC++ and ban people using DC++, when they enter their hub. I use both, just in case. Once you log on to one of the bigger hubs with like 800 members or more you will be amazed how much they share! Many people on that network share well over 200 GB! All the new movie releases can be found on that network, usually on the day before or when they come out. You can already find many sources for X2 on that network!

Definately DC++ because

No adware
Connect to multiple hubs
ALOT cooler option (search spy)
Slicker interface
Use multiple hub lists
More freedom with the client

Both of those are shit. I haven't found any good files on those networks.

because the Direct-Connect World is based upon some important rules.

1) you must share! When using DC++ , many hubs require that you open 1 slot per hub, and share a minimum amount of files. There is also no setting to control upload, to prevent leeching.
2) the protocol is not designed that well for some connections. As your upload increases, the download starts to suffer. This often happens with cable/dsl connections.
3) DC does not support multiple source downloading, unlike kazaa. So while you benefit from the collective speeds on kazaa, you do not on DC, which can result in slower speed.

I'm sure there are more reasons, but that's what I came up with... :rolleyes:

I tried Shareaza, beautiful interface but al lot of queing. E-mule and E-donkey? very slow and you'll have to wait in line for a long time. As a sort of back-up I'm using WinMX. Spywarefree, adwarefree. A little tricky to configure but I managed and sometimes a song I need is there to grab.
Clean I-mesh wasn't so clean after all and Clean Limewire was good but you couldn't see the progress in Kb, only in %.
