Still for me it is Operation Flashpoint. Ok, not the best graphics but a huge playing field an it lets you decide your own solution to reach the target.
Also realistic, a fatal hit? Then you're dead. Also a huge community with expansions, campaigns weapons and so on.

Goldeneye for N64! That game was revolutionary and had great multiplayer.
I'm more of a console guy, so I liked Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty and Timesplitters. On PC, BF2 was definitely a favourite

Wolfenstein 3D was before Doom.
My favourite is probably Quake 1 with Doom 2 close second. Most FPS games after Quake are too slow and don't have superior playablity like Quake does with rocket jumps and crazy air movement maneuvers. In Quake you can really fly through the map and own if you have the skills. :)

The best is UT the first the original and the best. All the hardcore players still play the first Unreal Tournament as the sequels were not as good and the first is still the best and new maps and tweaks are still be written for it. The game is awesomme and for a 1999 game it RULES.
Anyone here play it and fancy a game with me let me know ;)

I'm not a big fan of the genre, but I absolutely loved Deus Ex, though it's a crossbreed FPS-RPG. Bioshock was also great, and for a more traditional FPS I really liked COD4 and still play it online.
