The Imesh Experience

Hello all, I am new to this forum, but regardless I got something to say, so here is my thread. In a desperate search for rare, imported MP3s, I decided to give the iMesh network a try. Well, looking past the long d/l time, and the ad-ware they shove with it (Gator, NBB, some other crap) I installed it, and one good thing about me being on a dialup connection, I was able to catch some damn download for more spyware (I assume) and stop it. IMesh loaded itself in my startup files, along with all sorts of spyware components that I thought I killed on contact. Then I finally get into the network, not much to say as far as variety, Kazaa Lite had more to offer, I d/l a few files, seemed to be slightly slower, but the connections “appeared” to be more stable (no reconnects, or searching for file in gaps between downloading). So I had kazaa running at the same time, and was searching for similar MP3s, and guess what…. I came across my VERY OWN iMesh s/n, and I’m sure it was me, I had a unique iMesh s/n… so I started d/l my own MP3 files from Kazaa, they seemed to go pretty well, but it’s just the fact that Kazaa found my iMesh stuff, and not vice-versa. Oh yes, and it said MY_USER_NAME@fileshare on kazaa. So I close iMesh, and open it back up, to discover all the files I had que’d to d/l were gone! I ran ad-ware a couple of times to clean up the junk that iMesh had spread on my HD, and then my PC started giving me errors on startup, since iMesh imbedded some crap on my HD. So out it went!
In a nutshell, iMesh is loaded with spy-Ware*, doesn’t have the same file searching capabilities as Kazaa, the format sucks, and it just pisses you off. I then d/l the latest Random Nut release of Kazaa Lite 2.02, and I feel better already.
I hope I provided some of you with info, to save you from the aggravation of messing with a crappy p2p network. I have been using the kazaa & morpheous networks since they first came out, I also had cable modem back in those days, but now I just stick to my MP3s on dialup :(

Wow! I never thought of running IMesh alongside kazaa lite. I knoew they searched the same network, but even so, that's pretty cool...
Could this be the new Participation Level cheat we're looking for?
Posted by: Mr. Nice Guy
Ya know I never thought of that, and didn't even bother to check my participation level to see if it was raising up or not. Then again, iMesh's crappy network wasn't finding my kazaa lite files, it was more like k-lite finding my files on the iMesh network. I guess I will load back up the evil software and see what results I can get...

Is Imesh always slow?

I think it will be difficult at best to even get connected where it would increase our PL, but as you could download from yourself at the same speed in which you share with another, why even bother? Does not make sense to even try, just someone who really wants your stuff in, you would probably harm the network more than help us figure out a new cheat. Is anyone else thinking along these same lines or I am just nuts? Either way I would like more replies, it is interesting to think about, but in my opinion just does not make any sense or seem like it would be of any benefit. Awaiting replies.

Just thought I should stick up for Imesh :)
I did use it for a breif period (when the offical Kazaa lite (http://www.kazaalite.com) site was down it seemed like a good alternative) and I never had any real problems. The speeds (with a 56K modemn) were similar and I found the preview system easier to use - instead of having a built in program it loaded win media and played it in that which I thought was great. But after finding this site, with all the cool cheats (especially the AVi preview one), I'm I'm sticking with Kazaa :D

Yes, you are right Sek612, I did forget to mention that the file preview system was superior... almost reminds me of what was that... Napster? Some file sharing program would give me the option to open my newly gotten mp3s either with the internal player, or my own player (ultraplayer). iMesh is nice since you can preview your files directly to your own media players, instead of messing with the internal software. But I still can't deal with the spyware, it got pretty bad, so it had to go.
Is that really you in the pictures (just out of curiosity)? They seem like professional shots.

Sharedaddy, it’s like this….
First off this is purely a theory, but if iMesh were to find my k-lite files, couldn’t I just start a d/l, abort it, then restart it? Would that trick Kazaa into thinking that participation is increasing? What I was going by, is that say I start a d/l from someone, and they cancel me, so I resume it, they cancel me, the process goes on—doesn’t my PL go down each time I resume the d/l? I thought it did, or maybe that was my imagination playing tricks on me. So couldn’t we just start/stop some transfers from iMesh, leaching off your k-lite username? Of course this is all in theory (and yes, in “theory” communism works out great). I still gotta load up iMesh, maybe I will do that tonight, unless someone beats me to my own answers. Hit me back on that one.

Okay, I see what you are saying, in theory you do have a point, however were you to share with someone the same amount of files or size of files, the only difference would be the speed at which you saw results. I do not think the overall effect would be drastically different, I mean if someone starts downloading from you and cancelcs your PL will not benefit for the file size it would have been just for the portion that was downloaded, is this true and if so you are doing a lot of starting and stopping to gain the same amount you would have had you just shared with others users in the first place? Manu questions, will wiat for your results of your experiment.

Well Sharedaddy, sorry to report that I was not able to get any results. This could be possible cause it's friday night, and the servers are busy, I just wasn't able to find myself (searching from both Kazaa and iMesh). I did get loaded up with crap, spyware, and popups. iMesh is off the hard drive for now, maybe I will try it again on monday. I shall keep ya'll posted. Feel free to load up iMesh and give it a run yourself.

I'm staying away from the I-mesh thing. A friend of mine loaded it and it took us 2 days to get all the crap out of his system.
Were still somewhat amateurs so whoknows whats still left behind. I'm just glad he did it on his pc and not on mine.

I always have hated imesh and I always will hate imesh. The downloads are as slow as a constipated weiner dog. The so called no spyware is a lie(or at least ad-aware picked it up as being spyware). And lastly imesh just sucks. Thank you, and good day.

If you haven't picked up ad-ware, do so. Also iMesh throws some crap in your startup registry files. If you get RegCleaner, you can manually take out the rest, let me know.. I've gotten good at removing this iMesh shit.
