hi,

just look at this link and you'll have all your answers :

You can just add a user on your server. To do this, you log as root, you type "useradd pseudo". That will create a new access. To change the password, you just have to type "passwd pseudo".

After that, you can just give the pseudo and the pass and he will be able to log in the server wwith putty and run things as vncserver (for exemple, the pass to log in the vncserver will be specific to the user who launch it putty)

When you want to delete his access, just type "userdel pseudo" that will delete the user. If you want to delete all his data, type 'userdel -r pseudo".

for exemple, the begining of this link give you these commands.

web ui is not enough because what he will do after he fiild up the 20 giga?
he cant delet it throght web ui

Posted by: mikechrobot

sure you can, u can do delete data through webui

Posted by: nbo

ok thanks very much, still have a few question.
1- what is the difference between webui and giving him a user?
2- what access does the user have (or not have)
thanks.

Posted by: mikechrobot

1. WebUI is accessing uTorent remotely, giving him user is giving him access t to OS.
2. NO Idea

Posted by: KFlint

i would add that the WebUI of utorrent doesn't allow you to see all the informations seen in utorrent, like the list of peers

but it's pretty much the same thing, great web interface

Posted by: nbo

ic, i followed the guide and got webui.
what does it to exacly??
im not viewing utorrent live with it. or is my box just slow so it looks
like its updating every few sceonds.
now heres an important question:
1is it enough for me to give him ONLY web ui access??
2he can add torrents and delete torrents+ data through web ui??
3meaning i dont need to explaing to him putty and vcn.
4and i dont have to give him SFTP access???
thanks.

Posted by: KFlint

i think giving him only webui access is enough

the only thing you gotta to be aware of is that your torrents and his torrents will be in the same instance of utorrent.

i guess you could have two distinct instances running to solved this problem (under different users)

good luck

Posted by: nbo

i dont know what that means
but i plan on deleting all my torrent files b4 he will get any access, so he
will be getting full hdd.
the only thing he gets that i put on are a few set up files and utorrent itself.
is that a problem?

Posted by: KFlint

no, it's perfect like this if you want to keep it simple

You can't make connection with the server?
It asks for a user name & password?
