ACE Compression?!

I got some files compressed in ACE format, which is an alternative to the ZIP compression format. How popular is ACE? Are there spyware free programs that support the ACE compression? Is ACE a dead end compression standard?

winrar will do teh job for you... but if you wanted to check it out - you can download winACE to check it out, but why bloat your system
