That's why I love the Yankees. They buy all the good players and they have won 26 World Championship Titles. No other team in any other sport will come close to that.

Well, the Cubs have just about as good of an income, and Mark Cuban has just put in a bid to buy them.
Could be the best thing to happen to baseball since the home run.

The Cubs have been run by a corporation for far too long. They have a nationwide fanbase and a ton of money to spend, but do nothing but lose. They're America's favorite losers, for crying out loud.
If Cuban gets a hold of them, it's going to be exciting. Heck, I might even buy a hat. :)

That just shows you that money cant buy championships. You think those championship run they had in the late 90s were because of their payroll? Fuck no. Those teams had chemistry that this current one and the last few ones will never have. Funny how every Yankee hater always brings up their payroll. Even funnier how most yankee fans could care less about it. After all, its Steinbreinner's money. Not theirs. :lol:
Yes I admit they're not having their best season. But at least they're not some team I know who wins 10+ seasons of division titles and only has one WS title to show for it rofl.

An about that one damn player: he is saving the Yanks asses right now.
Last time I checked... he has had seven 9th inning home runs, two of
them game-ending.

That would be great to see more Cuban and international baseball players in the MLB. They are very exciting to watch. I think they run faster, have more agility and more attitude. Anybody have favorite international players they like to watch? I enjoy watching Vladimir Guerrero, Ichiro Suzuki, and Juan Pierre.

I hope not. I know I've heard it in a few places. I use to call them the Metropolitans, until I really realized that Mets is not short for that.
Oh well, I'll just refer them to as 'my team'. :)

The current Mets isn't short for anything they are just called the Mets.
Back in the day, before 1900, there was a pro baseball team in NY called the Metropolitan Baseball Club of New York.
The current 'Mets' is just a homage to that team, though it is not short for Metropolitans, as many think.

I just wiki'd the Mets and interestingly enuff, they almost went with "skyliners" as their name. The NY Skyliners. Has a nice ring to it.

Mets is short for Metropolitans (although you wouldn't say the metropolitans are playing the cubs...it is more of a respect thing.) This is correct.
