I couldn't access the site for last 2 days and now i'm on a proxy. I don't understand what could've caused it. I have a static ip and now i have no other way to get in and the 'CAPTCHA' or whatever it is, is driving me mad as i have to enter it each time, i enter a page. :frusty:

There's been a DNS problem, but it should be all sorted now

Could someone please explain exactly what this tweak does?
I thought the hosts file add-ons was meant to block sites..
please elaborate
thanks

Posted by: RealitY

It forces it so when you go to filesharingtalk.com to go the sites server even if the DNS isnt routing properly yet...

Posted by: 100%

Thank you for explanation.
so if everyone had implemented this tweak, fst would have been "normal"?

Posted by: tesco

That 'trick' won't work once the server's IP changes though.
Although I have no idea if it does.

Is the server not on a static IP? if not, Reality please send me new ip via MSN (again.... :whistling)

I had the same problem.

Rather than use a proxy or force the address in the hosts file, I changed my DNS server from the default provided by my ISP to one of the tier 2 OpenNIC servers.
http://www.opennic.unrated.net/public_servers.html

From what I can tell, these seem to be updated much sooner than ISPs' private servers. In my case, the responses seem to be much faster too.

One other advantage I just though about - unless it is actively monitoring packet contents, your ISP doesn't see or log your DNS requests.

sorry if i'm posting in the wrong thread
i can't browse this forum while i'm using opera 9.23 i can only access the front page(filesharingtalk.com) when i press any of the links it gets back to filesharingtalk.com. although there is no problems while using any other browser. i tried to reinstall opera, but no luck :(
any ideas how to fix that?

Posted by: tesco

Try clearing the cache, etc.

How is ti redirecting btw?
Is the address in the adress bar changing back to filesharingtalk.com or is it saying the proper address but showing the front page.

Posted by: kobi_af

Why can\'t i access the board

I\'ve had to use an annonymous proxy to get on

The board is also in the archive format for some reason. Is tesco tinkering again

Posted by: RealitY

Try adding this to your hosts file...

***.***.**.** filesharingtalk.com

Posted by: enoughfakefiles

I've just installed a wireless router to this computer. So i think that's the problem.

Do i need to add this site to something in the routers properties

Posted by: enoughfakefiles

Yesterday i could get on the board no problem. Today i have to use a proxy again

Are you tinkering again tesco

Posted by: crazyspic

I cant get on the site. I tried the dns thing and it didnt work. Also when i resovled the ip from the domain it gave me the ip posted here. What else coudl it be?

Posted by: enoughfakefiles

Yes, this site is still being ghay. I can access the site no problem on this pc, but I still have to use a proxy on the other pc.

They're connected to the same router except one is wireless and the other one is not

Posted by: Barbarossa

have you got anything untoward in your hosts file?

Posted by: enoughfakefiles

I wouldn't have a clue what's supposed to be in there or not. I tried putting the ip address in what reality posted but it made no diffrence.

Does the above make me sound like a no0b

/edit are you on the night shift barbie :01:
