I believe it... Of course, I also heard about it a month ago (look at the date on the artcile ;)).
Now, what gets me is... wasn't this exact thing one of the reasons MS was taken to court??

Im sick of internet explorer. Its a pretty good browser but its time for a change. :P

Opera? what is that? is that for people who like Opera?
IE is way better in terms of competition. Most of the browsers aren't even compatible to some of the web sites I go to. If they discontinue it, people would still use IE no matter what.

Well, IE has been crashing lately but still IE is one of my favorite Browser.
IE! and NETSCAPE!

Wow... you people totally missed the point.
They're not discontinuing IE.
Since IE is now part of the Windows OS (nice, illegal way for MS to ensure their position in the browser market), they've chosen not to update it as if it were an individual program. All the IE fixes and updates will now be bundled along with Windows updates, fixes and Service Packs.
Which means, in the future, the only way you'll get the most up-to-date version of IE, is by installing the latest OS.
Leave Windows before you have to start entering in your credit card number to register it... <_<

as an OS windows is the best so i can deal wit switchin browsers but not OS's

Anyone ever try slimbrowser? Its the shit. You can surf multiple web pages at once without having 50 windows open. Plus it links all of your favorites in with IE so there is no need to redo all your favs. It is also faster then IE, plus it is completely free. Download it at download.com for the latest version.

They can't buy out Mozilla... It's not even an individual company. It's owned by Netscape, which is in turn owned by AOL/Time Warner. Although with the recent AOL/Microsoft settlement, there's been a lot of speculation that Netscape and Mozilla could be on shakey ground. :(
