Db With Sid2dat Sigs
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)Posted by: danne
Maybe this should be under development, but as it isn't really a 'tool' so, anyways.
As it is now, most links is all over a bunch of fourums. Would anyone be interested in hosting a site with a database of sid2dat data ? (Would have to be able to run mysql and php).
I started writing this already, but I have nowhere to put it (except for personal use only, but that'd be a waste I think).
Users would be able to post their sigs in a textarea (just like in sig2dat) and a parsed result would be shown, if it is a tv series, the fields for this are to be filled out, otherwise left out. Think it's rather self explanatory. Searches for files, in catagories and so on would be available.
example of how it would look when posting:
example (http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=WtBTJmjIhpDxTmr1nulU6gLXU)
db-layout (not completely decided upon and not completed, only movies (tv-series) as of now)
db_layout_unfinshed (http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=Nm6yuCvnxBdneJPYY1PcBXGud)
Anyways, give me your thoughts, is it a complete waste of time or is it something ppl would be interesed in ?

It's a wate of time, cauze my site does almost the same but then like a search engine!!! :)

yer his is a good site just seen it :D

That would of course have been the point of it (searching and easy updating), but with more extensive info about the things. I'll prolly still make it, but for my own personal pleasure ;)

Hi danne, I think it's a good idea, if you also plan to add large, commercial software hashes. If the sig2dat replacement tool Paul is talking about ever gets made, perhaps it could be integrated somehow into it, even if it's just a web interface that interacts with K-Lite directly.
Hi sig2dat, could you give a link to your site?

wiggy: look at his sig ;)
and no, I mainly thought for tv-series with info en episodes etc (besides, he already have for everything)

team up with them mebbe, your exapmples look good

Well, I think they have a different angle on the thing. This was manly thought to be for users by users, ie. the userbase would control and remove the fakes when found, and not just someone filling up the db as they see the stuff is ok (IMHO that's too much work and would take quite a while to get anywhere ;) ) On the other hand, getting hashs from there, you know they are good qual right away =)
Anways, will see where it ends =)

Please explain very simply to a complete simpleton.
Thanks, if that question is beyond explanation then I understand.

Well, what I originally has as an idea (before I looked around ;) ) was that it would be nice to have a searchable database with sig2dat signatures for movies and tv-series. I mean, it's not so fun running around a bunch of forums. So, in simple terms, you would be able to cut and paste your sig2dat signatures into a text area (like the one you use when you post on this board) and all files, lengths and hashs would be parsed. The user would specify if it is a movie or a serie they are going to post, what genre (action, thriller etc).
To make all this work it all depends on how dedicated the user of said service are, the more the merrier. The userbase would put up their sigs, if they notice any hashs that are FAKES, they will simply lable that has as a fake.
That's pretty much it =) I have done a bit more (only input so far, and not finished, I do have to work for a living as well ;) ) I will have a chat with Jock and see where it ends =)

i like the idea, it sounds like a good 1. i looked at the other guys site and most of his varifieds are from fast track movies which i have triewd before. Anyone who is thinkin of usin sharemonkey, dont, its crap. the files arent varified, u may aswell just search on kazaa.
still, good idea i like it, i cant wait to see the site.

Well my new site is 100% verified... have been working on 600 CD'S :(
search.vinyamar.com
but i'd like to work with dante!... if he's willing to work with me :P
thanks!

Well they say 2 heads are better than 1. sig2dat & danne seems to have the same idea or relate in the same direction. If you 2 put your thoughts - ideas together you may very well explode into a new era of file sharing made easy :D

Did you check the Fasttrack Forum (http://www.fasttrackmovies.com/forum) yet?

I don't mind working with someone else =) I think we used different approach that's the main difference.
I haven't looked over your site too much, look nice tho =) (can't say I am much of a designer ;) )
Do you store the complete [url...] or parse it ?
Posting of massive amount of files at the same time ?
Allowing users to edit filenames after posting (before storing)?
Ah well, I have tons of more q's, but I have to be off (got a couple of beers waiting down at the pub =) )
Catch on later, most prolly during tomorrow (friday)

hi! bita late but who cares
my site uses 3 fields in a database table, 1 = filename, 2 size and 3 hash
You can post a milion movies (for example) and they all will be processed even if a IMDB page is found, the image, catagorie and 'comment' are added to the database.
Users (who are registered) can move, delete, change, whatever do with hashes, items etc.
Just PM me if you like to cooperate ;)

Huh... I had a similar idea. The rough details are here (http://forums.kazaalite.com/viewtopic.php?t=7301) (kazaalite.com forums).
The idea came from my dissatisfaction with most of the existing online databases. They only covered a few types of files, were short on details, were a one-man show and rarely updated, unverified, etc...
I'm still conceptualizing the whole thing, but I've got a bunch of ideas. I'm also trying to hack out some "proof of concept" code on my own computer...

I think it would be a great idea - but you need to include software, books, etc. - that's the whole point.
I mean, www.fasttrackcentral.com and a few others already have lots of verified movies posted, but what about games ? And music, and books and software ? No kazaa site has it.
I think there should be a site similar to www.sharereactor.com only for FastTrack - but for that we need at least 5-6 dedicated people, because working on a site like that would take tons of time.

Well, we were all mainly interested in movies so. No games etc. Anyways, sig2dat has come a long way (check his sig for the link).
I also, have a working version up, but since the Xtentic guys had come so much farther I thought it quite pointless in making another one =)
There is also another db in the works, only for anime tho, (well, I know of at least one other that is still in beta). Will see what those guys come up with =)
I'll give the xtentic guys whatever help I can with theirs instead of finishing with my own =)
