Best Film in HD?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Beenieman

Ok my new 50" comes Friday so I was thinking what would be the best film to put the tv to the test, something with great detail and colour and some action scenes and ofcourse great soundtrack! Hopefully available in 720 or 1080p too?

Posted by: DooMeD68

probably the LORD OF RINGS series or TERMINATOR 2 EE
possibilities are really endless........................!

Posted by: IceTee

What about Matrix? :)

Posted by: sexydingo

Does the 'Planet Earth' series count?

Posted by: nicho

Planet Earth really rocks.
As for great HD-moves - choose movies witch has been filmed lateley. Theese are shot in pure HD and not been resized to HD.

Good examples are Batman Begins, Transformers, Perfume, MI3, Tokyo Drift, 300, Blood Diamond, Casino Royale, Spider-Man 3, Death Proof, Lucky Number Slevin etc.

Posted by: lukee

i have many High def rips..........transformers and casino royale.....300 too.

Posted by: user2000

Saw 1,2,3,4

Posted by: psxcite

Planet Earth is nice but it's not really a film - per se. The top picks would be The Fifth Element, Matrix Trilogy, Lord of Rings Trilogy, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and any computer animated film like Final Fantasy or even a Disney Pixar release. These will blow you away.

How can you burn and play a 720p (for example, I mean any really really HD movie format like x264) and play it on your DVD player?

DVD players can read those? O_o?

Posted by: Ronnie Coleman

My suggestion would go to "A History Of Violence" by David Cronenberg. It is available in 720p on some trackers. :)

Transformers

If Planet Earth doesn't count then definitely the LOTR trilogy.

LORD OF RINGS series

Pray, real hard, that an hd copy of Beowulf is out by then... :D:D

Try 300, or Sin City....... let me know how they were..

I'm an old school cat, I probably won't go hd until its available like those mp3 players that use to be so popular...:lol:

sin city

must be Transformers 1080P :D

Posted by: GoldStoNe

I've watched Transformers, 300, Spider-man Trilogy, Matrix Trilogy, among others, all in HD. They are superb! :D

Posted by: Aaxel21

Start with 300

Posted by: Busyman

300
Transformers
The Fast And The Furious Tokyo Drift (just finished that, excellent)
Blood Diamond
Ratatouille

Do you have BR or HD-DVD?

Do you have a 1080p TV?

Posted by: Busyman™

The extended edition is not on HD disc yet. In fact, no LOTR is in any HD disc format.

The only way I saw any of the series in HD was on cable and it's also on the net.

Posted by: punki_rach

I don't know if it's actually available yet but I really want to watch Star Wars in HD

Posted by: User19

All:D

Posted by: Quarter

I will say definetly "The Lord of the Rings".
Awsome movie even without the whole HD thing.

Posted by: Busyman™

It's not, sadly.

I'll definitely get it but only if they don't skimp on the bonus features.

I still can't believe the Extreme Edition isn't on Blu-Ray for Terminator 2.

There is no excuse for that....just nickel and diming consumers.

Posted by: hopeful1

The Fifth Element reissue (with the AVC codec) is very good, and has superb sound quality

Posted by: Dark Archon

any epic battles would do, like LOTR or 300. Transformers as well.

Definetly, I think anything with big epic scenes and movies with a lot of effects and action is what your looking for. Just like the films mentioned above, it's pretty easy to find a lot of those. Gladiator and Star Wars are some other, along with Die Hard and Fast & Furious. I would love to see Transformers in full 1080p :w00t:....Azoom!

Posted by: Gilgameshx

Matrix 2 and lotr's (i know its not on hd yet but there are some upscaled versions floating around=still looks freaking good). Maybe even Beowulf but in 3d

Posted by: geradix

Shooter in blu-ray was outstanding. Sports movies such as gridiron gang and invincible also look very good in 1080p glory.

Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions and LOTR I, II and III parts

Posted by: ionutpala

Hitman

Posted by: Muzza

Some fine choices!

Transformers and Underworld Evolution are standouts for me!

I saw 300 two days ago, and man, though it was only 720p, it's really something

Posted by: 4play

The matrix reloaded and the fifth element are what lots of testers of HD have been using recently. I know what Hi-fi and Tv used the fifth element dvd for any quality testing they did.
