Hello everybody,
I need help to buy I new computer, I'm thinking with this:
Intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4GHz,
2GB DDR2 667Mhz,
ATI HD 2600 PRO 512MB,
500GB Sata II,
With the motherboard I'm think about the intel 775 DG965WH or the Asus P5K-SE, but I don't know what is the best or if exist other boards betters them these.
And I need alternatives about the graphic card.
Thank you

Double the amount of RAM to 4GB- DDR2 is so cheap these days.
Get an 8800GT nVidia card (just released, should be in stock soon).
Make sure the power supply is up to the job.

In the US those cards will sell between $200 to $250...you can perform the appropriate conversion.
Yes, a real 500w would be fine.
Problem is, it's unlikely that most PSUs labeled as 500w will actually provide that much.
I'd say a Corsair 620w would be minimum and the more the merrier.

Well I have had this one for about a year now and it has worked great and I have a bunch of shit hooked up to it
Rosewill RP500-2 ATX12V v2.01 500W http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/ProductImageCompressAll200/17-182-016-17.jpg (http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/VendorNewsList.aspx?Brand=2177)
It's not modular which is what I will get next time but it works great and it's only 44 bucks US

Rosewill isn't up to the job OP wants.

So what PSU do you recommend then? I can't remember the forum ( Clocker was there maybe JG?) where the newer Rosewill got really good reviews. I mean the guy took the whole thing apart and everything and ran all these tests I know nothing about. Im not getting defensive Im only saying I thought it was good. Why do you say it's bad? I ask because I too am planning a new build soon and I think I should get a good PSU with all my other new stuff but I want to go modular this time

The forum would be JonnyGuru.com.
Rosewill is Newegg's house brand and depending on the model could be just about anything.
I don't discount your experience with the one you had (I used the first Ultra that came out- the first ever modular PSU- and had no problems although the forums were full of folks who'd blown their PCs using it) but you'd be better off not going for the budget end of the spectrum.
Weren't you the guy who just recently was prepared to spend over a grand on the CPU alone?
Would you be willing to risk that chip on a <$50 power supply?

mobo: Abit or Asus, both great brands
video: the 8800 mentioned above will actually run you between $400-500 US dollars, I think 8600 version will work just as good for now, make sure its a GDDR3, it will be atleast another 6mths before anybody needs an 8800. Unless money grows on trees for you.... ;-)
Rosewill psu and cases are great, I'm using three psu's right now for my comps. Working very nice. I also have a Rosewill case, it's pretty sweet.
Don't forget, keeping your parts cool is probably the most important factor in a computer, esp with nice parts like these. water cooling i think right now is best.

Wrong. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150252)
As I said, the prerelease price is targeted at between $200 to $250 and once stock hits the channels the currently listed prices (for parts that aren't available yet...) should drop to those levels.

If your going to get an 8800 this is one to get. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150232)
Otherwise a 8600 256bit will work just as good for 100$ cheaper.
I thought you were talking about the new 384bit cards...
Oh yeah, that's exactly were I was doing my price check.
