Decided to break in my new AMC movie card (thanks, Pat!) today and saw Juno.
Thoroughly delightful- well written, beautifully acted and very funny- almost surprising, given the subject matter.
Strange to see a movie that doesn't rely on CG special effects, car chases or explosions to maintain interest.
Next up will be The Golden Compass...I was curious before and Biggles' recommendation has convinced me to try it out.

a good screener of this just popped up a few days ago, and i finally got to watch it. i wasn't disappointed! michael cera is awkwardly funny as usual, and now i'm completely in love with ellen page. i think it deserves its spot among the top 250.
a sweet indie film that had a smart, well-written story and actors that sold it all. deff a feel good film.

Great film, but anyone think it was odd that they pushed commercials with all the michael cera scenes when...that's all there are? I also wonder why Jennifer Garner wasn't more prevalent in the commercials, but that's just me.
All in all, a quirky indie film that is touching through its juxtaposition of ordinary life and the absurd.
Also, who was afraid that the Sonic Youth Loving dad-to-be was going to come onto Juno in a physical way? That was certainly the most awkward part of the film.

Loved the film, especially the soundtrack but throughout the entire movie, I kept finding myself asking if what's happening is realistic? Juno just seemed to take pregnancy so casually.

I think it was a great movie and even greater soundtrack (to repeat what everyone else is saying).
But though Garner did a great job I still think it ruined a little bit for me not seeing some more unknown actor in this role. Somehow I just felt that she didn't fit the rest of the cast.

TOTALLY. :lol: me and my friends were all debating whether he was going to turn out to be a pedo, but i'm glad he didn't. it would have made the film so... un-happy.

There are certain films I go to the movies for and this ain't one of 'em.
It looks like a good movie but I would save this type of movie for teh rental.
I go to the movie theater to see movies that have clocker's CG special effects, car chases or explosions, but also for sci-fi, martial arts, and bust-your-gut laughter.
You can add the decent black drama (they are very rare) in there also (This Christmas, Why Did I Get Married).
For instance, I wouldn't want to own Juno on Blu-Ray. Based on clocker's rec I will see it when comes on DVD though.
I know I would have overlooked it.

Just finished it, and was pretty surprised how good was after seeing the plot didnt seem to have much hope. Good acting, solid story line, awkward at a few parts but i would recommend this to anyone who hasnt seen it yet.

yupyup i know its pretty late but ive been really busy lately and just freed up some time to catch up with some new movies :D

I just saw it, and I agree with Busyman. It's a great film, but I wouldn't go to the theatre to watch it. I'd recommend just renting/torrenting it, you can enjoy it at home.
That said, Ellen Page came out of nowhere and shit, she is good.

What I thought was funny is it was shot in my home town in BC , did n't know that till weeks after . It could of been kids from Boston as far I was concerned as the accents sounded strange to me , I really liked the Dad in the movie tho .

Yeah he was great in Oz. He was an ass-rapist Nazi.:mellow:
Also he's the chief on The Closer.

Juno really made the movie. Her wit and sarcasm was very amusing, but the plot was sauce. The whole anti-abortion aspect reeked of Christian subversion. When she left the abortion clinic because of the smelly people I just about killed my TV. And as for the Academy nominating it for best picture, they must be on as much drugs as Heath Ledger.

I thought the movie was fantastic and that it did everything a movie should do.
Which includes having a kick-ass soundtrack.
It was definitely one of the best movies I've seen lately. It was nice to watch something that didn't remind me of 40 other movies I've already seen.
