i dled this cable modem hack thing from suprnova, it says that you can uncap ur modem, and i'm using a motorola surfboard, and it's supposed to work with the hack. uncapping it will give it the speed that the modem will physically handle, and that is much faster than the speed ur ISP gives u. i have a few questions:
1. Really important!! Will ur ISP find out?
2. Will they sue u and will anything bad happen?
3. Is this guarented to work? (misspelled)
4. How fast can a uncapped motorola surfboard go?
IF THIS WORKS, THE P2P WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!

Personally i wouldn't do it.
My upload got capped.
Called them, they uncapped me.
Yes, they probably can catch you.
They will terminate your connection if they do.

comcast regular cable. my speed is like 1.5 megabytes/sec, but it my dl speed is never at that speed

I dislike ISPs and there Cheap ways. But they find out when 20 % of there useres start useing this and there servers crash. They moniter all of your computer doings anyways . kinda like the communist union <_<

so am i blocking the isp from accessing my comp? if so, they what is the harm of uncapping my modem if they can't find out?

Funny thing is I have 3-4Mbps, which gives me about 175-350KB/s, what more do I need at $30 per month. I consider my ISP's a hero for this service at that price.
Now if I was paying $50 per month for a 0.5Mbps line, I might think about it. Although I would still advise no one does this.

What's your problem with 1500Kbps?
Even if you get uncapped, you will not be able to download faster on kazaa unless you find a reallllly fast user. Even after you do, you will not go over 500Kb/s.

I get 6.5Mb down 960 Kbps up.

Gotta keep taht a mystery for the moment though its a big company and happy its not Comcast, those guys are f**king assholes. Although as I said 1.5Mpbs at $45 is a bit of a jip, though I wouldn't f**k with them.

I have 3-4Mbps dl and 256bps up (which sucks).
Generally I get 175-300KB/s, max at 500KB/s ul.
I get a max at about 32KB/s ul.
$30 per month.

Actually if you had 1.5Mbps you max KB/s should be 1500bps divided by 8, which equals about 180KB/s. If your getting 300 your doing well. Also keep in mind my general average is at about 200KB/s.

my friend uncapped his modem to the speed of a boat moter engine. not only are the speeds blazing, his modem heats up big time. and his isp is mine and they havent done shit, bleh who cares. go for it

yea, i know some dude who did that, but i think he got caught, and probably sued for making his speed 50mgs/sec, rather than regular cable, which was what the isps ass rapers gave him.

I'm on comcast regular cable too. But they quoted me a speed of 1.5 mbps (megabits/sec, not megabytes/sec.) :P
Considering TCP/IP overheads, min+max packet size, and other issues which can cause that 1.5 mbps to be used up quicker than you might think, getting a 160 KB/sec download out of a 1.5 mbps connection isn't as bad as it sounds...
Btw, my cablemodem only has a 10 mbps ethernet LAN connection on it -- so even if I DID uncap my cablemodem, my connection TO it would still be limited to 10 mbps.

Im with blueyonder in the UK with a poxy 1meg connection. Its a package deal for cable TV and net connection (motorola 4100) and they charge us £48.50 per month once VAT (tax) is added (robbing bastards). The service constantly has problems and all traffic per user is logged through their proxy. They rent the IPs on a 24 hour basis and assign them per user.
I would get caught if i did this and I suspect you would too. I have no idea what the consequences of that would be, or if it would even work under these circumstances.

HAHAHAHA that sux for u guys i can just hang out at my dads work and get FULL OC3 speeds i think max up is 155mbps not sure but that shit isssssss fast too bad my dads boss wont let me put k lite on the junker computer i get to play around on. :( oh and you cant uncapp a dsl connection YET. but u can get a Nexland Pro800turbo and connect to cable or dsl modems and use it to combine sboth modems speeds. so if u have dirt cheap dsl get another account and get one of those :lol:
