Hi All,

I have been torrenting for a while and heard how good NZB are. I have cox as provider and plan on using their Newsgroup.
Can anyone help and give me directions on setting up for using Newsgroups to download movies, tv shows.
I don't understand how the index sites work. I know you search for a file and select all the parts and download the nzb file. Then you use a client and open the file. But are all the files on all the newsgroups servers at the same time? how do I find files which are available to be downloaded from my newsgroup from Cox?

Provider: Cox
Client? --- can you recommend
NZB index: i don't know which one to use. I asked for a invite for newsbin but havent received one yet.

please help.

x

if ur serious about dling from newsgroups u better spend some money on a good news provider that has good retention and completion. giganews is the best there is if u ask me.

like i said, the availability (retention) is totally dependant on the news provider. in ur case, cox sounds like "cocks" to me :D

Now wait, this isn't technically 100% correct, you still need a connection through an NNTP server, and a client...

THEN, that's all you need! :P

For a newbie I also recommend Grabit as your client also. Once you got to grips with things move on.

To get the best out of usenet I also suggest paying for a server. I have no idea about Cox as I am not from the US. But it is possibly a load of old Cox.

Cox outsources newsgroups to Higwinds. If the retention on the Cox servers is 30 days, don't load a NZB for a post that is older than 30 days (duh!). You are limited to 4 connections total; split them 2-2 in case one of the server farms fails to send a part or parts:

2 connections - news.east.cox.net - port 119 - no login
2 connections - news.west.cox.net - port 119 - no login

Okay all you Cox yuckers, start downloading!
