For me it depends on which decade we're referring to.
If we're talking about the 60's, Bob Dylan... I was never a Yards Birds fan.
If we're talking about latter day recordings of the 70's+, I'd go with Clapton for sure just because I like his music better with all that genius guitar playing.
Bob will always win out as the superior songwriter though.

bob dylan has admitted in many interviews now that his songs had absolutely no hidden cryptic meaning as many thought in that time...even now.
i think that clapton is overall a better artist and hasnt sold out to cadillac.
clapton=artist
dylan=capitalist

What do you mean with Dylan selling out?
On the contrary, Clapton sold out by maintaining a similar style to his work. A one product.
Dylan changed his style completely and this pissed everyone off. Hence Dylan lost on "capital".
As for the "artist" debate, that does not make sense.

One of the toughest polls ever, i chose Clapton after some minutes of thinking. Can't really tell you why, it's just the way of my heart :)
Both are great artists and musicians. But after watching Crossroads Guitar Festivals from the latest few years a once again fell in love with the way Clapton plays his guitar. Big ups to both men.

Dylan. Compared at their peaks of 60s up to mid 70s and parts of the resurgence in the 90s, Dylan ousts Clapton imo, although Clapton has a number of more memorable amazing tracks.
