I hate having to extract all the *.nzb files before putting it in my news grabber! why did they start doing this? i am pissed! and i have been with this amzing site for 2 years almost! Anyone else angry? thoughts?

Having the NZBs zipped has allowed us to more than double the retention period.

Is that not a reasonable trade off?

err... can you explain how is that? I thought NZBs are just lists of files to download :ermm:

They are stored as text in the nzb which zips up really well.
I have uploaded nzbs that where 1.5mb in size, when zipped they were 100kb.

now you see why they can increase the retention easily when everything is zipped.

I think it's okay, it's just to select "open" and one click on the mouse wheel to select my standard NZB folder, then extract.

I don't like the "new trend" with "pars added" and not including the NFO in the NZBs though but that's another debate :P

Some NZBs go up to 3mb and higher.
The average is probably around 700kb.
Zipped they rarely get higher than 100kb.

I still don't get how that increases retention? maybe definition of retention might help.

Since they take up less space we can keep more nzbs on our server (more days).
