Years ago it was 4x4 evolution 1 and 2. Those games are still great too, but i haven't played them in years. Now, i wouldn't know. I haven't played online in months, but i plan to get back to it, once my website is finish. Might start playing Aliens Vs Predator 2 again or UT2004.

counter-strike source. man back when played that i pwned so hard, i guess cause half the people in pubs had integrated video cards and lagged. i dont know, but i could always easily sweep the other team even with a semi by just spraying and prefiring, where as cs 1.6 involved actual skill
so yeah css was definately the best online game because of its fast paced gameplay and graphics, and the fact that it was so easy to win at

Warcraft 3 would definitely be my favourite, I had a whale of time playing AT and ladder with mates. Custom games also rules, dota etc.
WoW or ROSE are the MMORPGs I played, WoW was pretty addictive but Blizzard should be credited for such an amazing game that produces the addictive online experience.

For one that's still active: Cs 1.6 . I've played both CSS and CS 1.6 extensively and competitively. I prefer the gameplay and maps in 1.6 .
My all time favorite online game would be Socom 1 on the PS2. As it is no longer very active, it isn't worth recommending. But at its peak, it was definitely the best.

Hmmm this thread lacks mmorpgs imo. Best online game for me was Final Fantasy XI. The community is the thing I remember the most about that game...mature, friendly and honest for the most part. I clocked at least 3 months worth of time on that game alone.

I mean exactly what I said. I read the thread and I only saw Counter-Strike or another FPS most of the time as their best online game. I thought there wasn't enough people who liked MMORPGS (massive multiplayer online role playing games) and that made me a little sad. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I think there should be more people who likes online rpgs in this topic. :D
