This has been bothering me for a while now but everytime i watch a film its nearly always in 2.39:1 and i get huge black bars on the top and bottom of my screen.
Is there a way to select the film with seeing the ratio first.
I could have had this wrong and not sure alot about screen ratios but know there are 4 or 5 different ones but the most common are 4:3 16:9 2.35:9 and 1.85:1.
Is anyone else getting this or is it just me?

It's called aspect ratio
4:3 16:9 are for TV's the rest are the size of different cinema chains screen sizes. If you want no back bar look for anamorphic disc it's in the info file.
If you want to learn more h**p://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspect_ratio_(image)

You could use VLC which allows you to choose which aspect ration you want to watch the film in.

The bars are supposed to be there or you'd have the wrong AR...
