every movie i DL comes as a vcd with the folders and such like. is ther a program that can extract the avi from the vcd?

No, u don't extract the .avi u extract the .mpg and if u want a .avi u will have to re-encode it back to it but I don't know why u would want to do that.

ive got American.Wedding.PROPER.TS-ESOTERiC and ive found a dat file in mpegav and its called AVSEQ01.DAT but it wont play in wmedia player or anything else i have, i have all codecs installed.
i dont wanna have to burn it to make it work in my dvd player

it should open with avi.preview or video lan

install the latest full k-lite codec pack.
then try to play it in media player, it will work ;)
or use vcdgear to extract the mpeg out of the dat.

Just get a program named IsoBuster and open up the mpegav folder and select the aveseq01 and right click on it then select extract but filter m2f2 frames and that should work.

just take it (AVSEQ01.DAT) out (move to your harddrive) and rename to mpeg (American Wedding.MPEG). At least thats what I do.

i would be interested in what gspot has to say about this file.
it will tell you if you have the codecs installed or not.
wmp will play the dat without renaming the file.
virtualdub (http://www.virtualdub.org) should play anything so give that a crack.
