Setting up newsgroups on a mac?

need help with this.
i use windows, have my crap all set up... but i need to set it up on my friends mac. what i need to know is what is the best FREE usenet app for mac, and if i need to configure his computer in some other way i would in windows. (as in opening ports, or any kinda network config macs would have for it to run properly.)
btw, i got all the login/pass info for usenet.

The best reader for Mac is Unison (http://www.panic.com/unison/) imo. It's not free, but it's not hard to get either.
Other free readers with good reviews are: Newswatcher (http://www.smfr.org/mtnw/) and iGrabNews (http://igrabnews.free.fr) (I haven't used them though).
You don't have to do anything special (at least with Unison), just add it to the apps folder, enter the NSP info and you're done.
