I'm confused about bit-rates...

If I'm uploading/downloading music, how do I know what the correct label should be with regards to V0, V1, and V2? What bit-rates correspond to each of those labels?
How do you differentiate between the them or correctly identify each?

the v0's, etc. refer to the lame setting used.
