This is weird!!
What could have cause this huge blackout in New York, Detroit, Ottawa,Cleveland?
Any idea

Solar flares most likely.
A common problem this time of year

It is a power station fire in New York.
Is it causing some of the performance problems we appear to be seeing the last couple of hours, maybe routers down because of the outages.

it's excatly what lynx said.....

A lightning strike near Niagara Falls caused it. Although it is kind of amusing to watch Bush Jr. say "This was not a terrorist act." And now, somehow, it's gone from the power outage to the Homeland Security. Anyhow, it was all started by that evil bitch, Mother Nature. ;)

She's completely justified, we've ALL been attacking her for years ;)

I'm pretty sure that the lightning strike was caused by fanatical Al Qaeda members on holiday in North Korea constantly rubbing balloons against their woolly jumpers.
Therefore this completely justified an all out invasion of North Korea...
...and Iran, just for the hell of it.
:D

I wouldn't be too shocked if something like that comes out of the White House. ;)

They are saying it was a tree in Ohio.

Ah ha! I heard it last night.
"We cannot rule out the possibility that this was a terrorist attack."
Apparently they're saying that it could have been caused by terrorist hackers.
But this was from the "Fair and Balanced" side of things.
