Hello again,
We optimized the settings for this board now and we will re- route some 100s of users to this board now to test the load with many users.
If this forum goes down while testing it will be up again after 2 - 10 minutes depending on the server load but I hope it wont happen.
Maybe you will ask yourself: Why does this evil Darker do it right now with so many people on ?
The answer is simple - I try to get as many users as I can online at the same time which is the only way to test load and to make additional settings.
I will re route a high traffic site to the boards in 5 mintes :)

Just keep an eye on the current users within 15 mins at the bottom and you will notice the changes in 2 mins once i re- route :)

An attack is different than real load :)
I could attack my servers myself but that would not generate high mysql load etc :)
Right now i just send 1 new visitor per second to this board which is the best way for now.

Lol don't worry that are re- routed visitors that will refresh the site cause it is not the site that they typed in :)
Means they will stay more or less some secs and leave again :P

that are visitors from different domains that i own - i generate more or less 2 million page views per day ~ 65.000 unique people

I guess i will continue with the test now by sending a new user every 2 seconds since the board is pretty busy right now :)
Expect a short downtime for like 1 - 3 mins while i test the load with MORE users :)

Well thats a very good question.
VBulletin is the best forum software around and can handle more or less 700 unique visitors. Most huge boards use VB because of this,
The problem with all free boards is that they are not really optimized for huge sites / load and can handle between 250 - 450 users depending on the server / cpu / ram etc
325 user(s) active in the past 15 minutes did result in a server load of 1.20 - 2.13 which is not too bad. A server can handle loads of x - 7.0 without a problem but the 2.13 max with 325 is pretty good.
I guess it will handle max 450 cause the software
I wish some prople would code a lite forum that can handle more by using only required queries / optimized queries etc.
Then up to 2048 would be no problem on a server

I'd code it, if you wanted me to. I'd just need you to tell me what you'd consider the queries to use, and I'd use only them... A lot of stuff is really not needed, you're right.
