Ports for Mirc

In order to make the Mirc (Client) work do we need to open up some ports from the OVH manager? What exactly needs to be done there ?
Or are these things for setting up a Mirc Server?

I don't think OVH likes IRC. Use SSL.

I dont want to user IRC for transmitting files if thats the reason u suggested SSL ..
I need it for IRC automated Downloading(from announce channel) through scripts ..
