Uh OH!!!!!
I have just instaled XP Pro with SP1 on my laptop. it is a Sony Vaio PCG-GR214MP.
I have noticed 3 things since i have installed it.
My clock speed has gone down from 1GHz to 725MHz
I have PCI modem driver
I have no display driver
I also have not got my Recovery disks with the original drivers on. So i cant get the drivers from there. Can some1 help me find the drivers and tell me why the clock speed has dropped so dramatically?
Please help.

there was an advisor program thing that told u what ur harware was, belrac of something like that

as for the clock speed, boot into bios (press del on startup (or associated key for your system)) and check both the fsb (cpu internal frequency) and multiplier
edit: it should be 100MHz fsb, 10 multiplier

there may not be anything wrong with the clock speed, my laptop jumps between speeds of 500mhz and 1.33ghz. to save power/

i said there may not be, but then again, there could be. :)

When i go into the bios, there are no settings for the fsb or multiplier. they cannot be changed from the bios. i heard of a program called Soft FSB but this is very difficult to find. Also, i am stilll stuck with the driver problems.
:( :(

try the sony site for drivers for ur model
Posted by: Enigma2003
the sony site only gives drier updates to previous drivers. in other words, if a driver is out of date then they will give you an update but if not then the driver is not available.
They dont cater for retards like me who lose thei recovery discs.
any ideas?
