Updating Photoshop 7

Anyone managed to get the PS7 to 7.01 patch to run on the (most popular) Kazaa copy??
TIA

No, but did u try it? Did u get a specific error message? Did PS7 stop working? Tell us more!
Generally pirated software is detected in an update-process, so the update will not work  (Norton is an exception :D) But be patient, from what I hear hackers are working on a new method, which might (or not) fix this! B)

Yup, thanks, I did try. I tried a few different serials too. It says Photoshop "can't be found" at the specified path. (I am using the default path as mentioned in the "can't find" dialog.) No problems anywhere after closing the attempted patch.
I am new to this side of software, and blonde, so have to ask these newbie questions. :) Logically, I would expect a problem with patching a cracked exe file, but I didn't think exe files were cracked unless specified -- i.e. the cheat is in the serial used??
I guess I will have to wait for the fix to appear.

You probably need to search for the blonde patch too. :P
Edit:
Just realised the alternative meaning to what I just said, if you need help in that search... :D

plain and simple: you cant update the ripped photoshop 7 to 7.01. You get that error because it recognizes your .exe as invalid.
Maybe someday, our friendly-neighborhood crackers will come up with a fix... but whats the point? does 7.01 really make a difference? just be glad you got 7!!

Yah, I am grateful (very) and I don't give a toss about the patch for the patch's sake. Was just curious as to HOW it recognizes that's it not a legit install since the exe file, presumably, has not been tampered with. i.e. if you were installing from an ISO copy, using a "working" but not purchased serial, would it be the same deal with the patch?

under the hair she does have a brain

Don't know about Photoshop in particular, but Microsoft have identified certain serial numbers for XP, Office 2K etc as being known to have been pirated, so I assume the same could be true for Adobe. Or perhaps they know which range of serial numbes have actually been issued and yours isn't in the range. Obviously it's too late to do anything about the original version, but they can stop you from upgrading.
Interestingly, Microsoft actually damage your existing installation of Office 2k if you try to install SP1 onto a version with a pirate serial no, and that's illegal in EU.

Didn't know that. But if it's a US pirated Office 2k then they would win the case since it's not to be sold outside US (I assume what they do is legal in the US).

In the EU it is illegal to deliberately damage or corrupt computer systems and/or data (I think the same is true in the US). The fact that the software is an illegal copy is not relevant. And in any case they have not at that point proved that it is an illegal copy.
But of course how is anyone going to do anything about it, you can hardly say 'Oi, Microsoft have damaged my illegal copy of Office 2k'.

Thanks for that - makes sense.
Not sure what the policy for invasion is here (Australia) but it's probably illegal.

i figured it out. it has to do with using a serial that is verifies as pirated. try a different serial, i suggest a keygen.

 I have a solution for you all.
The said update looks at the Serial numbers in the registy, and if it'sa banded copy
upgrade will not complete.
