Now that the rules have been changed I see the same questions been asked about ImageMagician (http://www.imagemagician.com/) and Picstore (http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/) over and over again.
I know we can't expect people to read EVERY topic and post, but it gets kind of boring repeating the same thing.
Since I use those hosters both, I'm willing to write a small how-to on those two in a topic that then can be pinned.
I'd like to hear the opinion of the members and the Mods/Admins about this.

Well Bender, perhaps you could explain me why everytime I try to register at Picstore it comes out with same stupid message: "Sorry we have found a problem: IP address already in use." :angry:

Are you sure you have never registered there before? I did and forgot, so when I tried to do it again it gave me the same warning. Then i used my normal user name and password, it logged me on

I'm sure I've never signed in, unless I have short term memory loss, like that guy from Memento! :lol: I saw the link to Picstore in the this forum and decided to try it out. The first time I tried it gave me that message.
I disconnected and reconnected my modem to see if I would get another IP address, but it still was no good.
I don't give a sh!t, anymore! <_<
I've got my own server, now! B)

But that's just what I meant with this topic: Xeroxed and I (and all those other members) can repeat over and over again about this free hosting pics stuff, still there will be a lot of people that don't know about it/didn't read it.
Therefore my question to have it 'pinned'.
Just something like: 'Hey guys, need hosting for avatars and pics? Go there/do this.'

Ya a pinned with all the members emails that are willing to host images and links to free webhosting/pic storage would be a good idea.

Yes, I think pinning a topic about avatar hosting etc would be a good idea. I just read the post about the avatars from this board being deleted soon so I registered with picstore.
Their site doesn't really give much information on how to link your avatar and I couldn't figure it out,
until I read the whole post and read your reply bender,
about placing &ext=.jpg at the end of the picture code.

I think pinned once won't matter much cause they're pretty static. Lot of people won't read them.

But when somebody asks a question about it we can point him/her out that there's a 'pinned' about it and have a laugh at his /her expense. :D

That hasen't happened to me...................yet. I just forgot my password and had to create a new account there. I tried to get it emailed to me, but then forgot my damn username. :lol:

I've gotten the same Email.
Think it's crappy though, first they lure you with 'Free hosting 1mB' and after a few weeks they ask you to pay.
I'm not paying 10 bucks for a mere 1,1mB, that's almost nothing!
I'm going to stick with Picstore: http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/.
25mB for free. (while it lasts :D )

I've found a cool free web host with unlimited bandwidth and ftp access.
You have to have a little ad (of course <_< ) but you can choose wether you want a little popup ad or a permanent ad banner. B)
The domain name goes like www.yoursitename.hpg.com.br
The only problem is that you need to understand portuguese if you want to sign up. :lol: :lol:

I went ahead and coughed up the $10 since the service is easy for me to use, and 1Mb is plenty for my needs. But I think that a pinned topic showing the various options might not be a bad idea...

The last few days I'm replying 2 or 3 times per day on questions concerning free webspace for hosting pics...
I agree with Jetje there are a lot of 'pinned' topics already and that a lot of people aren't reading them, but at least we could direct people over there.

History, I was on the other Kazaa lite (not ++) forum and someone there sugested a site that worked unbelievable simply. I uploaded a file and it said here is the link. ...but i lost the web site :blink:
Now i can't even find the other forum to find my profile to get the link :(
So I uploaded to picstore but have no idea how to link it.

It's very simple.
You choose the pic you want in Picstore and highlight it.
Press 'Ubb Code' and copy the first URL you see, except the parts.
On this board you press the 'IMG' button in a post, your avatar or your signature and paste it.
Now you add '&ext=.jpg' right before [/IMG] and it should work.
If you still don't get it to work PM me and tell where you get stuck.

In regards to the original question, instead of putting all these "stickies" at the top, would it be easier to clean up the threads, then move them to a tutorial category. That way, they would all be organized into one area.--

I have to dissapoint you, geocities doesn't support direct linking, so I don't see your avatar.
Try something different.
I tried geocities at first too, but found out it doesn't work.

All you have to do is click the arrow icon in your pictures folder at the Picstore:

That will copy the code to your clipboard.
Example: "http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=2lCDQQ9dTcl6ufic2UnrhKRUX"
Than you have to add &ext=.jpg or &ext=.gif at the end, depending on the file type.
Example: "http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=2lCDQQ9dTcl6ufic2UnrhKRUX&ext=.jpg"
If you want to put an image in your post you do the same thing, when your click the IMG button, you paste that code from the clipboard (right click & paste or Ctrl+v) and add the &ext=.jpg at the end.
Step by step again:
1. Log into Picstore
2. Click on My Pictures
3. Click the arrow in front of the filename of the pic you want to use:
http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=2lCDQQ9dTcl6ufic2UnrhKRUX&ext=.jpg
4. Open this board
5. Go to: My Controls/Edit Avatar settings
6. Paste (Ctrl+v) the code you just copied into the window offered
7. Add at the end &ext=.jpg (or &ext=.gif)
8 Click on the Add this Avatar to my profile
If you follow this steps, you should have a working avatar. ;)

Never mind about the long URL, couldn't do it from home, but was able to update everything here from work.( just found out my Avatar and Signature pics were gone). maybe I ought to try to move some other things here from home? have broadband here :lol:

hmm, Bender and I never ahd that problem, but Gambo did. the URLs are very long indeed....
Maybe you should ask VB or Paul to ask if there is a maximum lenght to those URLs

Yes Sweeky, its ok now. was browsing and realized Image Magician finally suspended my account. had tried to repost my avatar yesterday, url was too long to add the "&ext=.jpg" don't know why it didn't work before, but its works now and I guess thats all that matters.

I think the slow downloading problem has something to do with your computer and/or connection.
Pages with pictures from Picstore are loaded in seconds for me, and I've had never anybody else complaining. :)
