Broadband Upgrade

I have the 512 Blueyonder broadband connection and can get downloads of about 50Kb/s if its a good day. On a regular day I get around 3Kb/s which is the same as the 56k user next door! My question is: Should I pay £10 extra a month to boost my broadband to the 1MB line they are offering? It will speed up browsing, but is it likely to speed up Kazaa?

You have same connection and company as me.
I get upto 67Kb/s and usually between 20-50Kb/s....Unless i do something to increase it ;)
Have you got K++?
If so, are you using Autosearch correctly to help you out?
You should be getting MUCH better download speeds than your reporting.

Well, if you already have a 512 line, you won't really see any difference in browsing (should already be fast enough to get most pages semi-instantly). And yes, it will speed up kazaa, but not enough in my opinion to warrant spending more money unless..you are consistently downloading Large Popular files. I stress the popular because the sources you get will be an important limiting factor in your dl speed.

Try downloading the "TCP/IP Optimiser" fromSpeedGuide.net (http://www.speedguide.net). That may help your downloading speeds for Kazaa and regular browsing.

I have DSL and i usually get 30-100 KB/s DL and 20 KB/s upload on KL... browsing is ok... and downloading from a very good server/F*P will get me about 120KB/s or more.. I used Dr. TCP from here: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/578 and thats why my speeds went up... i think anway...

i have a 512k line and on most days i get my maxuamum speed witch is 57kbs download speed on the evenings you would expect that you speed would go down but on my pc it dosent for some reason i still have the full maxamum download speed.
so if you are thinking to upgrade you line for an extra£10 a month it isant realy good it will not speed up you downloads on kazaa beacuse on kazaa your speed depends on who you connect to if you connect to someone with a 56k than you will get a download speed of about 5kbs at the maxamum but if you connect with someone with a t1+ than you will have you maxamum download speed.
this is o-k but if the user you are downloading from is uploading more than 1 file than the speed will differ.
