I attached it with some thermal adhesive and had it held tightly with some string. Well, after about a month's time the string started to loosen, and the heatsink fell off with a little chip of the core
I removed the ramsinks, and tore off 4 of the ram chips. not a good day...lol

If the core is damaged on the gpu i would say no. If its just a matter of re soldering the components back on i would say yes. (if you had a very very good soldering iron tip and skills.)
It would be worth a try.
