Find out your Supernode IP.
Fill it in into the Visual Route (http://www.visualware.com/visualroute/index.html) program.
Sometimes it can even trace it down to a single address B)

so if that's the case how am I being traced ?

It traces the path packets take to the address your trying to trace.

NeoTrace (http://www.neotrace.com), which is free from FOSI (http://kickme.to/FOSI), is another program like visual route
edit: just noticed they got bought by McAfee and dunno what mcafee is doing with neotrace now, but i do know if mcafee made any new versions, Fosi hasn't provided them yet...

You can also do it the old skool way from a DOS prompt like so..
tracert IPaddress
You wont get a map, but you can often tell the location of the nodes by the hostnames.

yeah i prefer my traceroute without all the graphic bells and whistles. If your not commandline oriented you can use the traceroute in sam spade (use slow traceroute to increase your results because it gives hosts more time to respond)

Been using visual route for ages..cool program..
If anyone needs a serial number for it,PM me and i might be able to help ;)

Yeah, VR is great, especially for finding faulty routers. Have been used extensively by the DAoC community in europe ;) A really nice feature is that you can copy the graphical representation to ascii. Also keep in mind that the map can point things out completely wrong, far from all routers have location info, as evilb said, you can pretty much guess the location by the hostname tho =)

Funny thing is that almost all my supernodes are located in the US, mostly in the states around New York.
Whereas I myself am from Europe.
It is probably because of the huge backbone between Amsterdam and New York.
But it makes finding the latest movies much easier :D

lucky you
my supernodes all bite llama nuts

How do you find out what address to trace to find out where the supernode you're connected to is though?
Posted by: starstorm73
if you have the newest kazaa and the default start page you can click "detect supernode" and it will show you the ip/port of the supernode you are currently connected to
i am usually connected to a supernode in montreal  B)

I usually get connected to someone else from AT&T Broadband (which i also have)

What can we do once we find the supernode address? Will it make things go faster or what? I'm not sure if I understand about supernodes :(

keep in mind it does not give exact location. I put in my ip and it told
me i was over 200 miles away from were i am at. i think it traced it back to
bellsouths main office in my state but it will get you in the ballpark atleast

don't use visualware 7, unless you really bought it, because stolen versions phone home. I've tested all cracked versions, they all are badly cracked. and if you are caught, visualware writes a letter to your isp and then they probably cut you off from the net. I heard already at least from 20 people that they have been notified by their isp about copyright violations, because they got letters (dmca act) from visualware. I even heard from a guy that roadrunner had cut him off from the net because of this visualware damn thing. better use neotrace or mcaffee visualtrace pro (same prog as neotrace, just renamed after the firm was bought by mcaffee). neotrace is available at fosi's, and if you want to belong to the elite, you get yourself mcaffee visualtrace from emule. same prog, of course, just different name, but then again, it's cool to have the latest version, which hardly anybody else owns :P
