how much power does it actually save? cuz i put mine in standby and all my fans and stuff are still running. so how much energy am i actually saving?

personally i find standby a load fo crap. if i aint using it i turn it off, coz it still makes a noise, id rather just turn it off, coz boot times aint much nowadays. and if u wanna save stuff ur doing u could use hibernate feature.
