QuickTime is one of the most popular applications for enjoying multimedia on your PC.It contains several components including a plug-in for your browser and a desktop player, which sports a cool Mac-like interface. Most QuickTime movies you find on the Internet can be played right on your browser. However, you may like to download files yourself, and this is where the player comes in. In addition to supporting the standard MOV file format, it will open and run a wide range of multimedia. These include AVI, BMP, GIFF, JPG, Macromedia Flash and Adobe PhotoShop files and many, many more. In case you`re wondering, yes, it will also play your MP3s.QuickTime has been extended to support "media skins," and its new music synthesizer supports DLS files and SoundFonts for richer audio.
In addition, it provides MPEG-1 playback, both on your PC and over the Internet. The application features an enhanced digital video codec and built-in support for Flash 4.

qt alt 1.2 has the latest codecs from quicktime 6.4 included :D , it was released yesterday

are u talking about 1.2 but my sources tells me 1.16 is out as well and thats what i am just about to put on my site!

QT alt 1.16 and 1.2 are 2 different versions! 1.16 includes the 'old' 6.3 codecs and 1.2 the 'new' 6.4 codecs!

must say winamp 5 is definetly the best player for sound i've yet heard.

i haven’t tested winamp yet and yeah u r right winamp is the best player for music. Quicktime can be used for music but not lots of users use it for music purpose, this is basically for movies and some movies can only be played in quicktime for emaple .mov is the quicktime format. <_<
Does the new winamp plays movies to ;) , I am still using 2.95!

winamp 5 plays movies but i dont think it plays .mov files

i am not sure but i think its still a beta version!

winamp 5 is indeed still beta but i have no probelm with it.
vid amp plug in for winamp will enable .mov files.

If you currently have 6.3 Pro installed, just run "QuickTime Updater".
